The female Knight with long golden hair stood quietly before Yu Sheng, fully armed. In the distance stretched an endless wilderness of withered grass, while beside them lay the campfire that had once sheltered the children, now cold and extinguished.
But the female Knight's gaze was not fixed on Yu Sheng. She merely stood there in silence, like a statue that had been standing in this place for countless years. Her eyes looked toward the distance, yet seemed not to focus on anything at all.
After a moment of surprise, Yu Sheng walked over curiously, but the blonde maiden showed no reaction whatsoever to his approach.
"...Hello?"
Yu Sheng tried greeting her, then reached out and waved his hand before her eyes, but neither attempt received a response.
Yu Sheng frowned and carefully observed her condition, finally noticing something amiss.
Although this "female Knight's" body looked completely real, the outline of her figure faintly shimmered with an illusory radiance, as if she did not entirely exist in this place.
Yu Sheng walked around her twice and finally confirmed that what stood before him was merely some kind of phantom.
Yet he also had the feeling that she was more than just a shadow. Although she showed no reaction to the outside world and remained standing there blankly, he somehow felt that... this shadow was "alive."
It was a very subtle feeling.
