Yu Sheng suddenly opened his eyes.
But all he saw was a hazy, chaotic radiance—as if something had formed a heavy curtain. From sight to hearing and even spiritual intuition, everything was disrupted by that curtain, blocking all attempts to peer through it. He could not see what lay beyond, and the sounds reaching his ears rumbled and buzzed. He could only vaguely make out countless figures shifting behind the curtain.
He felt as if he were traveling like the wind through countless faceless crowds, yet in the next moment, his viewpoint seemed to rise rapidly until he was looking down on everything from the sky. Immediately afterward, he felt as if he had become one of the people in the crowd, solemnly waiting for something to happen.
And all of it was shrouded by that heavy curtain.
He saw the blurred figures surrounding an enormous object, as if they were forming a battle array. Someone seemed to be directing something from the sky, and streaks of light periodically flew toward the colossal object, illuminating lines across its surface.
He heard indistinct voices beside his ears—
"...send it into the Ninth Heaven...if all is well...wait until the mountains and rivers are reshaped..."
Immediately afterward, the scene before Yu Sheng began to shake violently again. The surroundings rapidly darkened, as if night had fallen. Before he could figure out what had happened, he saw countless fireflies flying toward the sky. Many enormous objects were mixed among those "fireflies." Some had outlines resembling towers and palace halls, while others looked like floating mountains and islands. There were even sky-swallowing beasts, releasing long, low cries high above.
Urgent drumbeats rang out.
Bang, bang, bang, bang.
But Yu Sheng soon realized that they were not drumbeats.
They were his heartbeat.
His heart was beating
