Yu Sheng's group fought while retreating, and in the process, they once again destroyed one of "Yun Qingzi's" enormous bodies.
The dozens-of-meters-tall crystal mass blazed dazzlingly under the mass-produced puppets' concentrated heat rays. The accumulated energy tore apart the crystal heap shaped like an elderly human, blasting pale crystals streaked with gray-black into fragments that filled the sky before raining down over the crystal forest. Yet, just as before, a moment later another "Yun Qingzi" crawled out from a crack in the distant ground.
Every crystal tree, every cluster of crystals, and every crack underground was merely a small part of some enormous body spreading outward.
"This is impossible to fight, Yu Sheng!" Eileen screamed from Yu Sheng's shoulder. As she frantically directed the remaining mass-produced puppets to maintain suppressive fire as best they could, she shouted, "This is even more ridiculous than carrying a fire poker to trim the Giant King's toenails!"
Yu Sheng's brows were tightly furrowed. After realizing that this entire crystal forest was one enormous living organism, while "Yun Qingzi" seemed to be merely a "mimetic limb" extending from that vast body, he had no choice but to consider retreating. Yet, for some reason, a vague unease lingered in his heart, making him feel as if he had overlooked some detail. That was why he still hadn't decided to retreat.
Just then, whether because he had lost too much blood or because the "connection" established through his blood had strengthened once again, the haziness and indistinct whispers that had constantly circled through his mind surged back, even stronger than before. And within that haze and those whispers, something else appeared—
Yu Sheng subconsciously raised his head and looked at the sky diagonally above the crystal forest.
A strange pallor covered everything in his field of vision.
