By the time Yu Sheng returned to No. 66 Wutong Road, it was already midnight. The quiet night shrouded the entire city, and the house was silent from top to bottom.
The main light in the living room was off, with only a small lamp left on near the staircase. In the dimness, he saw a pair of bright, golden-red eyes—Huli, surprisingly, was still awake, waiting for him to come home on the sofa.
The instant Huli saw Yu Sheng open the door and enter, those eyes curved into crescents.
"Benefactor, you're back," the fox girl greeted him happily. "Luna just went back to the spaceship~~ She said she had to go deal with vegetables or materials or something..."
Then she raised a hand and pointed toward the kitchen.
"There's food in the pot. I stewed some vegetables for you, and there are steamed buns in the steamer too. I bought them from the little supermarket at the intersection, so they should still be warm."
Yu Sheng smiled and stepped forward to rub the soft fur behind the Fox Girl's ears. She happily narrowed her eyes.
"What about Eileen? Did she go to bed?" he asked casually.
"She's right here. She fell asleep halfway through watching TV," Huli said, turning sideways and spreading out several of her tails to reveal the little doll beneath them, fast asleep while hugging one of her large tails. "The others are upstairs sleeping."
"...She complains all day about fox fur getting into her joints, yet she still burrows into your tails when she sleeps." Yu Sheng muttered helplessly, then got up to serve himself some food, switching on the dining-room light as he went.
Huli pulled away the tail Eileen was hugging, then covered the little doll with two more tails. Only then did
