Boundary City was bitterly cold today—the city had seen another snowfall a few days ago, and today was when it began to melt. The old district had been battered by cold winds all night, driving the temperature down below minus twenty degrees. With the strong winds and falling temperatures, there had barely been any pedestrians on the streets when Yu Sheng went out earlier.
But staying home was still warm—although he had no idea how it worked, No. 66 Wutong Road had underfloor heating...
Just like the water and electricity at home, Yu Sheng still had no idea where the heating in this enormous house came from.
But he had stopped worrying about it long ago.
A phantom door appeared out of nowhere in the living room. Yu Sheng returned home from the valley carrying steaming roasted sweet potatoes. He set them on the coffee table, still thinking about the Hermetic Society and the Angel Catalyst, then called out casually, "Huli, I brought you something tasty!"
In an instant, he saw a huge furry tail emerge from behind the sofa. It groped around near the armrest, swishing back and forth, and after finding nothing, two pointed ears finally rose above the backrest. Fox Girl poked her head out, staring blearily at the roasted sweet potatoes on the coffee table. She reached out and said in a soft, lazy voice, "Benefactor, I can't reach them~~"
"You're so lazy..."
Yu Sheng was both amused and exasperated. Carrying the sweet potatoes, he walked around behind the sofa to feed Huli. The moment she saw him coming, she simply flopped flat onto the floor, her many large tails forming a nest around her that looked warm enough just by sight.
"Have you been lying on the floor more and more lately?" Yu Sheng asked,
