Background / History
Nu Ba was once a Celestial Maiden of the Upper Realm whose residence was the Xuanxiao Palace. During an ancient conflict with the Lord of Weapons, she exhausted her divine power to break his Spiritual Power and avert calamity. The cost was her divine status: she became a Han Ba, a fire-aligned Kui Ba whose emergence scorched the land for a thousand li. 458
Though her sacrifice saved the world, Nu Ba was vilified as a calamity-bringing drought demon. The world blamed her for the droughts caused by her transformation, while those in power spread depictions of her as a hideous monster to quell public resentment. Emperor Xuanyuan ultimately banished her north of Red Water. 458 464
Nu Ba later secluded herself in a bronze coffin beneath the earth near the Yin River. Venerable Fu Lu became her disciple and inherited parts of her legacy, including the fire-based Burn Mountains and Boil Seas supernatural power and the weapon-controlling art that Nu Ba comprehended while fighting the Lord of Weapons. 361

- Often resides unclothed within her bronze coffin due to having lost access to her former Upper Realm wardrobe. 457 458

Personality
Nu Ba is proud, blunt, and deeply resentful of the injustice she suffered after sacrificing herself for the world. She rejects the idea that becoming a Han Ba was a blessing, regarding the position as a curse rather than a reward. 458 479
Her long seclusion leaves her unfamiliar with ordinary mortal life, but she is curious about it; Xu Qing's account of zombies being forced to push millstones genuinely surprises her. 459 Despite her cold exterior, she is compassionate toward the mortal world and fiercely protective of Xu Qing, whom she considers an unusually upright junior and a potential successor. 458 464 479
