Being lightweight had its advantages, because Surtr could retreat faster than the shockwave during the clash. Then, she could run along the shockwave's ever-expanding spherical outline.
She came around from the side and reached the top.
The sword plunged down together with her shadow.
The giant's blade shattered the sword's image and her form, but her true body appeared behind the giant once more.

Flames surged forth, erupted, and pierced into the giant's back, triggering an explosion. A massive cavity, deep enough to expose bone, was blasted open— the giant roared and swept its battle-axe across, but it only met the aftershock and sword blade in a clash.
—"I'm going to defeat you because I intend to retrieve the Profaned Flame buried underground. I plan to use it, along with the Abyss behind it, as fuel for the First Flame. And why are you protecting an empty city?"
—"I will oppose you, even if you are that legendary great hero who began the history of human rule. A promise is a promise. Since I promised to suppress the Profaned Flame, I will suppress it until it vanishes—or until my end."
Surtr breathed softly, her breath accompanied by surging fiery energy. She watched as the cavity behind the giant filled at a speed visible to the naked eye. Even stronger flames burst outward from every part of the giant's body, making the colossal creature resemble a pillar of fire.

Or rather, burning blood and soul in a final expenditure of everything.
