A girl in a white dress held a thick book and settled into the pavilion by the lake. Then she opened it and began reading intently.

A gentle breeze brushed past, carrying wave after wave of floral fragrance.

There were insects chirping and frogs croaking, along with the sweet, earthy scent of soil. It was a scene capable of intoxicating anyone.

"I heard that Weiming Lake at Xifeng University has the most beautiful sunsets in the world. How about we make a date at Xifeng and go watch the sunset at Weiming Lake together?" a boy's voice softly rang in her ear.

Cui Xiaoxin raised her head and looked around blankly. The surroundings were utterly silent, and there was not a single person in sight.

She shook her head and once again focused her mind on the pages in her hands.

She read every word carefully, yet not a single one left an impression in her mind. The writing flashed before her eyes like fleeting reflections, then vanished without a trace.

Cui Xiaoxin irritably closed the book and stared blankly at the reflection of the setting sun in the heart of the lake.

"How about we make a date at Xifeng and go watch the sunset at Weiming Lake together?"

The boy's words still lingered before her eyes. Yet now they were worlds apart, and perhaps they would never meet again.
