Spirit-Linking Potion
Among the five spell formulas, there was neither Repair nor Mage Hand.
Nor was there that strange spell Mage Seda had used when questioning him, the one that had left him in unbearable pain.
Clearly, these Spell Scrolls did not encompass every spell Mage Seda had mastered.
But that was perfectly normal. Mages had more than one way to learn spells besides Spell Scrolls.
Besides, even if a mage had learned a spell from a Spell Scroll, once they successfully constructed the Spell Model, they might not necessarily keep the formula.
After all, under normal circumstances, once a spell was mastered, its formula had already lost its value.
Unless one still harbored the crooked notion of reselling it.
Though the five Spell Scrolls were incomplete, every one of them was an "old acquaintance" of Gao De's.
There was no need to mention Tracking Mark. Touch of Fatigue was clearly the close-range spell Emil had once revealed Mage Seda possessed.
As for Color Spray and Flame Arrow, Gao De had personally "tested" them when he had laid his cards on the table with Mage Seda.
And Detect Magic was something Gao De had seen Pierre cast before.
All five cantrips were practical and powerful.
With five brand-new Spell Scrolls laid before him, any Mage Apprentice would have fallen into the sweet agony of indecision:
Which spells should they choose to learn first?
After all, for a Mage Apprentice, mastering a cantrip took anywhere from half a year to a full year.
Naturally, they had to prioritize.
A person's time and energy were limited in the end.
Just like studying: when ordinary students chose tutoring classes, they usually picked one or two cost-effective subjects where they could quickly raise their scores for focused breakthroughs.
Of course, that was the mindset of ordinary students.
For top students, there was only one sentence: I want them all!
Top students had no weak subjects.
From childhood to adulthood, Gao De had always played that role of the top student.
And fortunately, even after changing worlds, Gao De could still carry on his role as a "top student" in the field of spells.
He wanted them all!
The order in which he learned spells was irrelevant to him.
He could simply pull out any Spell Scroll and begin constructing its Spell Model.
At most, it was only a matter of a few days earlier or later.
Gao De happily set aside the five Spell Scrolls for the moment, picked up the three ancient parchments, and began reading them.
Just as expected, they were the elixir formulas he had been longing for.
He first pulled out one of them:
Novice Spider Venom Potion (0th Tier Elixir): Possessed a powerful paralytic effect and was nonlethal.
Main ingredients: 1 Serpent Tooth Herb, 1 Mountain Mugwort, 1 Green Spider Sac.
Gao De was exceedingly familiar with the Novice Spider Venom Potion. After a cursory glance, he set it aside without looking further.
The second formula Gao De picked up was the Novice Stamina Potion formula that interested him most:
Novice Stamina Potion (0th Tier Elixir): Significantly enhanced the drinker's physical strength and stamina, with no obvious side effects.
Main ingredients: 1 segment of Alpine Ironwood Root, 1 Sunfire Fruit pit, 1 portion of Wild Wolf Glandular Fluid; supplementary ingredients:.
Preparation steps: Naturally sun-dry fresh Sunfire Fruit under the noon sun for three days, then crush it and retain the pit for later use. Peel and slice the Alpine Ironwood Root.
Enchanted the three main ingredients, extracting the "drought-resistant, cold-resistant" medicinal properties of Alpine Ironwood Root and the "fiery" medicinal property of Sunfire Fruit.
Place the magically treated Sunfire Fruit pit into a mortar, add an appropriate amount of spring water, and grind clockwise. During grinding, add Wild Wolf Glandular Fluid as appropriate to neutralize its "fiery" medicinal property, but ensure the "fiery" medicinal agent did not fall below . Continue until the mixture took on a pale golden hue.
The formula was so detailed that it tediously listed every step and every detail of preparing the elixir.
As long as one had a certain understanding of and talent for elixir preparation, one could fully master the preparation of the Novice Stamina Potion through this formula and experimentation.
"Good!" Gao De's delight was plain to see.
Phil's Herb Shop offered 2 gold and 5 silver per batch for Novice Stamina Potions, making them more valuable than Novice Spider Venom Potions.
He absolutely had to master this formula.
Gao De thought to himself as he picked up the third parchment.
Compared to the first two elixir formulas, this parchment was far more worn. Its edges were frayed, and the yellow of the paper was darker.
A faint guess arose in Gao De's heart.
Could this be the elixir Mage Seda had spent ten years trying to prepare?
As he pondered this, Gao De's gaze naturally fell upon the parchment.
The first line that met his eyes made Gao De's heart suddenly leap.
Spirit-Linking Potion (1st Tier Elixir)!
A 1st Tier Elixir!
This was a 1st Tier Elixir.
Two formulas for 0th Tier Elixirs alone were enough to sustain the operation of an herb garden.
If one could prepare a 1st Tier Elixir, they would have a place to stand even in Bremen City.
As he indulged in his imaginings, Gao De continued reading.
Spirit-Linking Potion (1st Tier Elixir): Upon consumption, it could temporarily increase the drinker's Mental Strength, enhance mental perception and mental control, though it would be accompanied by mild mental fatigue afterward.
Drinking this elixir before constructing a Spell Model would increase the success rate of Spell Model construction.
Gao De realized his heart had jumped too soon.
Now was when it should truly have leaped.
It increased the success rate of Spell Model construction.
Do not be fooled by how easily he constructed Spell Models, as though solving math problems. He was merely a special case.
For the overwhelming majority of mages in this world, constructing a Spell Model was an agonizing task that demanded enormous amounts of time and effort. Yet it was also incomparably important, something they had no choice but to do.
Under such circumstances, the vast market for an elixir that could raise the success rate of Spell Model construction went without saying.
"No wonder that old bastard had been obsessed with preparing this elixir for ten whole years. Aside from his stubborn personality, its temptation really was too great." Gao De could now fully understand Mage Seda's obsession.
He read further.
Main ingredients: one-half ounce of Spirit Bone Dust (approximately 14g), 1 pair of Psyche Butterfly Wings.
Supplementary ingredients: 1 portion of Silver Thread Grass, ××××××, ××××××, ××××××.
Preparation steps: Dry the colorful Psyche Butterfly Wings under moonlight, then grind them into powder and set aside. Spirit Bone Dust
Enchant the two main ingredients, extracting the "hallucinogenic" medicinal property of Psyche Butterfly Wings and the "spirit-linking" medicinal property of Spirit Bone Dust. Enchant the four supplementary ingredients, extracting the "guiding" and "Mental Strength-enhancing" medicinal properties of Silver Thread Grass, and the "neutralizing" and "harmonizing" medicinal properties of ××××××.
Place the Psyche Butterfly Wing powder and Spirit Bone Dust together in a mortar.
The formula was still extremely detailed, but three of its four supplementary ingredients had been mysteriously erased for some reason.
Every occurrence of those three supplementary ingredients in the preparation steps had likewise been erased, without a single omission.
Clearly, someone had done it deliberately.
Above two of the erased supplementary ingredients, Mage Seda had added the names of two herbs:
"Mandrake Bark," "Dried Nettle."
Only above the final erased supplementary ingredient had Mage Seda written the words "sage," then added a "?" mark after it, presumably to indicate uncertainty.
Mage Seda's ten years of stubborn experimentation had not been entirely fruitless.
Though Gao De did not particularly trust that result.
After all, his predecessor had been poisoned to death by precisely this sort of result from Mage Seda.
Gao De shook his head. Though he knew the value of the Spirit-Linking Potion, he still put down the formula with full awareness of his own limits.
He certainly would not do something as wasteful of manpower and money as attempting to complete the Spirit-Linking Potion formula—at least, not anytime soon.
