Ch. 404Forced Mission

Gao De spent his time building his shop, studying, and acquiring new First Circle spells, including an enhanced Identify spell. Just as he tested Identify+ and learned about the Black-Winged Scale Serpent’s scales, the Sea Sentinel ordered him to rush to cyclone-struck Auckland City for disaster relief.

  • Gao De inspected Walmart Magic Materials Shop’s inventory, celebrated its first purchase of a Magic Tree Seed, and told Joel to keep buying Buzzing Tree Seeds.
  • Gao De ordered the rare materials needed for Identify, cultivated and studied while waiting, then exchanged seven Third Class Merits for Entangling Roots and Burning Hands.
  • After the Faded Bookworm arrived, Gao De brewed the Identify Spell Elixir, learned three First Circle spells, and spent one point of Origin to enhance Identify into Identify+.
  • Gao De tested Identify+ on the Black-Winged Scale Serpent’s scales and learned they were a Second Circle Extraordinary Material with sturdiness and water resistance.
  • Two Sea Sentinel staff members delivered an emergency mandatory mission ordering Gao De and other mages in Dorne to proceed immediately to Auckland City for cyclone relief.

Ch. 405Whirlwind Rescue

Gao De received orders to join the emergency relief effort after an unusually early, powerful whirlwind struck Auckland City, and he raced there by boat with Tuanzi. The storm flipped their boat as soon as they entered the city, leaving Gao De plunged into the floodwaters.

  • Gao De learned that the whirlwind had formed unusually fast and that he was being sent to Auckland City to rescue people and deal with water beasts.
  • Captain Merrick ordered Gao De and the other healing mages to reach the disaster zone within one day, and they received rescue guides and maps.
  • Gao De chose the water route, equipped his Rune Construct and Northwind, and traveled in a small boat pulled by Tuanzi.
  • Gao De read the rescue guide while Tuanzi pulled the boat toward Auckland City, and he studied the emergency priorities and disaster risks.
  • Gao De and Tuanzi entered Auckland City's borders amid torrential rain and violent currents, where a towering wave overturned their boat and plunged Gao De into the floodwaters.

Ch. 406Water Bandits and Floodwaters

Gao De and Tuanzi battled the floodwaters upstream toward the disaster area, where Gao De encountered two would-be bandits and forced them to help organize a rescue fleet. After learning that dikes had failed and several towns were flooded, he continued upstream to locate survivors.

  • Gao De and Tuanzi used an undercurrent to right their overturned boat, then set a course north toward the disaster area.
  • Two men planned to rob and kill flood survivors, but they decided to wait when they spotted Gao De approaching in a Sea Sentinel Mage uniform.
  • Gao De confronted the men, who confessed that they had only planned their crimes and had not yet acted.
  • Gao De learned that Alhor Town and Mahavai Town had flooded after upstream dikes broke, leaving survivors stranded in higher areas.
  • Gao De marked the men with Tracking Marks and ordered them to return to Tyrrell Town, gather boats, and form an evacuation fleet.
  • Gao De and Tuanzi continued upstream to assess the survivors' condition and find where they were trapped.

Ch. 407The Great Merit Arrives

Gao De and Tuanzi crossed the flooded Loire River to locate Yaxi Town’s survivors, narrowly escaping a deadly whirlpool along the way. They reached the survivors’ refuge, where Blackscale Makos were attacking the evacuation boats and Knight Hao struggled to find a way to stop them.

  • Gao De found the breached No. 3 Flood Embankment and identified Yaxi Town as the town threatened by the floodwaters.
  • Gao De traveled downstream through submerged villages and spotted human corpses before continuing toward Yaxi Town.
  • Gao De and Tuanzi were dragged toward a hidden whirlpool, but Gao De cut the rope and Tuanzi rescued him after the boat was swallowed.
  • Gao De reached the nameless highland and saw that Yaxi Town’s survivors were gathered there while Blackscale Makos attacked their boats.
  • Knight Hao recognized the beasts as first-rank Blackscale Makos and worried that they would destroy the fleet before help arrived.

Ch. 408Mysterious and Baffling

Gao De lured the Blackscale Mako swarm away from the fleet and used a whirlpool to destroy it, saving Knight Hao’s boats from the attack. He then headed back toward the high ground to help Yaxi Town’s disaster victims and pursue further merit.

  • Knight Hao watched the Blackscale Makos wreck a boat and prepared to retreat, but the swarm suddenly abandoned the fleet to chase a creature moving through the water.
  • Gao De used Jewel Sweetberries to lure the pursuing Blackscale Makos while Tuanzi carried him toward a hidden whirlpool.
  • Gao De slowed the swarm with Witchcraft Arrow as they neared the whirlpool, then Tuanzi turned aside and let the Makos’ momentum pull them into the current.
  • Gao De used Shape Water to push the remaining Blackscale Makos into the whirlpool, leaving none visible on the surface.
  • Gao De told Tuanzi to return to the high ground, determined to help relocate Yaxi Town’s disaster victims and earn merit.

Ch. 409Auckland City

Gao De reached the flooded area around Yaxi Town, where he helped Knight Hao assess the refugees’ dire conditions and ordered an evacuation at dawn. After sending boats to request rescue ships, Gao De headed toward Auckland City to investigate the disaster and survey other affected towns.

  • Knight Hao met Gao De and learned that he had lured the Blackscale Mako away from the fleet, while Tuanzi had been exhausted by the effort.
  • Knight Hao explained that Baron Joloya had evacuated Yaxi Town’s residents to high ground, where more than a hundred thousand refugees faced hunger, rain, illness, and unsafe sanitation.
  • Gao De gave Divine Berries to a sick child, inspected the crowded camp, and told Knight Hao that the refugees had to be evacuated at dawn to reduce the risk of an epidemic.
  • After resting, Gao De found that the rain had weakened and arranged for two boats to notify Tyrrell Town’s rescue fleet and scout the route.
  • Gao De took a small boat toward Auckland City, releasing the recovered Tuanzi along the way to survey flood depths and boundaries in other towns.

Ch. 410Mage Assembly Call

Zuo Wen Burns raced toward Tyrrell Town to earn military merit by organizing flood relief, while Gao De reached storm-ravaged Auckland City after rescuing people along the way. As Gao De learned that the cyclone had behaved abnormally, the city’s three-ring Mage Assembly Call summoned every formal mage to an urgent crisis.

  • Zuo Wen Burns and Ulver Newman rode through the flood toward Tyrrell Town, where Zuo Wen planned to borrow cargo ships and earn a First Class Merit through disaster relief.
  • Gao De saw a boy, a village dog, and an exhausted water buffalo stranded in the flood, and Tuanzi helped the buffalo reach shore.
  • Gao De arrived at Auckland City and told a guard mage about his journey and the rescue fleet he had organized in Tyrrell Town.
  • The guard mage described Auckland City’s severe damage and explained that Catfish had spawned smaller cyclones and drawn unusually many aquatic beasts.
  • Three consecutive bells rang out, and the guard mage told Gao De that the Mage Assembly Call required all formal Plantagenet mages in the city to assemble.

Ch. 411Sub-Plane

Gao De joined Auckland’s mages after Earl Roland revealed that a growing Spatial Rift connected the Mage Plane to a Wind Elemental Sub-Plane 180 kilometers away. The city’s fleet set sail to eliminate its Elemental Creatures before the Wind Vein stabilized, with Gao De assigned to a warship reserved for noble mages.

  • Gao De and a guard mage traveled to City Square, where Earl Roland gathered Auckland’s mages in response to the Rallying Cry.
  • Mage Theodore reported that a Spatial Rift connected the Mage Plane to a Wind Elemental Plane and was producing the Catfish cyclone.
  • Earl Roland explained that the Wind Vein lay 180 kilometers from Auckland and that the mages could close it by draining the Sub-Plane’s energy before it stabilized.
  • Earl Roland ordered the mages to sail immediately and eliminate the Elemental Creatures, which were expected to range mostly from First to Third Order, with a possible Fifth Order creature.
  • Gao De boarded a higher-grade warship reserved for noble mages, and the fleet sailed from Auckland Harbor behind the lead ship, the Thorn Crown.

Ch. 412Surprising Discovery

Zuo Wen Burns discovered that an Apprentice Mage had reached Tyrrell Town first and redirected himself toward Auckland City to avoid being outpaced again. Meanwhile, Gao De detected and helped destroy an ambush of Submerged Phantoms, whose arrival showed that the Wind Vein was nearing full formation, and he recalled something important as their energy dissipated.

  • Zuo Wen Burns learned that another Sea Sentinel Mage, an Apprentice Mage, had already requisitioned Tyrrell Town’s ships and gone upstream to rescue Yaxi Town’s victims.
  • Zuo Wen Burns abandoned his plan to aid smaller towns and rode toward Auckland City, hoping to avoid overlapping with the other mage’s route.
  • Gao De spotted faint energy beside the warships and warned the ship’s temporary overall commander of a possible ambush.
  • The commander and the mages attacked, revealing and destroying around a dozen Submerged Phantoms.
  • The commander reported that the Wind Vein had grown stable enough for First Circle Wind Elemental Creatures to cross, while Gao De remembered something as the creatures’ energy dispersed.

Ch. 413Storm Soul

Gao De realized he could transform his Wilderness Spirit into a Storm Soul by letting it absorb Wind Elemental Energy from the Sub-Plane. As the fleet fought the creatures pouring from the Wind Vein, he summoned the spirit to gather energy and begin its transformation.

  • Gao De decided that the Wind Elemental Energy could help his Wilderness Spirit develop into a Storm Soul.
  • The fleet reached the Wind Vein and encountered swarms of Air Elemental Sprites, Wind Giant Spirits, Submerged Phantoms, and Hurricane Spirits.
  • The Wind Elemental Creatures formed tornadoes and charged the fleet, but Theodore's fire spell destroyed the tornadoes and scorched many sprites.
  • Theodore ordered the mages to attack, and Gao De used Frostbite and Freezing Ray+ to freeze and destroy Air Elemental Sprites.
  • Gao De cast Feral Ingenuity+ and sent his Wilderness Spirit around the warship to absorb scattered Wind Elemental Energy.

Ch. 414Advance, Advance!

Gao De used his Mandora Demon Eye to locate Submerged Phantoms and support the warship’s mages during the battle. When a Hurricane Spirit Lord attacked, the ship’s defenses and the commanding mage’s Snowstorm Hail helped the main cannon destroy it, and the Wilderness Spirit absorbed its energy, beginning to form a physical body.

  • Gao De explained that the roaming Wilderness Spirit was his Phantom Spirit, then used his Mandora Demon Eye to spot Submerged Phantoms and call out their positions.
  • The ship’s commanding mage ordered Gao De to locate the Submerged Phantoms while the other mages attacked them.
  • A Hurricane Spirit Lord appeared above the warship and unleashed lightning, forcing the commanding mage to activate the ship’s defensive array.
  • The warship’s main cannon struck the Hurricane Spirit Lord as the commanding mage’s Snowstorm Hail froze its currents and left it vulnerable.
  • The main cannon pierced the Hurricane Spirit Lord’s chest and destroyed it, and the Wilderness Spirit absorbed the creature’s Wind Elemental energy.
  • A cyan layer began to form over the Wilderness Spirit’s translucent body, signaling that it was taking shape as the battle continued.

Ch. 415Wind Dragon

Gao De and the fleet charged toward the Wind Vein, using powerful magic and the Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon to clear away Wind Elemental Creatures. As the Thorn Crown struck the rift, a colossal wind dragon emerged and opposed its attack.

  • Gao De relayed the Submerged Phantoms’ positions while the Wind Elemental Creatures pouring from the Wind Vein overwhelmed the fleet’s attacks.
  • Earl Roland led the fleet toward the Wind Vein, and Mage Theodore’s magma spell and the Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon cleared paths through the creatures.
  • Gao De’s Wilderness Spirit absorbed leftover wind energy and advanced to 99.5% green as the fleet reached the Wind Vein.
  • Mage Theodore fired a golden energy pillar into the rift, briefly shrinking it before green energy struck back and forced a stalemate.
  • A colossal wind dragon appeared inside the Wind Vein and breathed a green energy beam against the Thorn Crown’s attack.

Ch. 416First-Stage Form

The fleet battled the Wind Dragon and the endless Wind Elemental Creatures as Mage Theodore concluded that the creature sought to enter the Mage Plane and become material. After the Wilderness Spirit transformed into a Storm Soul, Theodore led the Fourth Circle Mages in a charge toward the Wind Vein, where the true danger awaited them.

  • Mage Theodore recognized that the Wind Dragon was trying to become a material creature, making the Wind Vein essential to its plan and Auckland City's destruction essential to stop it.
  • The Magic Crystal Cannon and the Wind Dragon's vortex clashed while the fleet fought off waves of Wind Elemental Creatures, and the Wind Vein's formation stalled as the Sub-Plane's energy dwindled.
  • Gao De's Wilderness Spirit absorbed enough energy to become a Storm Soul, then drew in Wind Elemental energy from nearby ships with dramatically increased speed.
  • Mage Theodore decided the fleet could not risk waiting for the Wind Vein to collapse and called on Fourth Circle Mages to charge toward it.
  • Earl Roland joined Theodore and the other Fourth Circle Mages as they flew through the Wind Elemental Creatures, with Theodore leading the charge toward the Wind Vein.

Ch. 417Turning Point

Mage Theodore led the high-ranking mages through the Wind Elemental Creatures and attacked the Wind Dragon, but the Wind Vein weakened their spells and let the creature recover. As the mages and the Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon continued their assault, Gao De’s Storm Soul absorbed energy and crept toward the Wind Vein.

  • Mage Theodore tore through the Wind Elemental Creatures, broke the Wind Dragon’s tornadoes with a Fire Wall, and led the mage formation to the Wind Vein.
  • Mage Theodore struck the Wind Dragon with his Fifth Circle spell Dawn, but its Azure Crystal Core drew back the scattered energy and minimized the damage.
  • As the battlefield’s mages began to run low on mana, Gao De released his Storm Soul, which raced toward the Thorn Crown and absorbed Wind Elemental energy.
  • The Storm Soul followed the Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon’s light pillar toward the Wind Vein as an emerald point formed in its core.
  • Mage Theodore and the other mages continued attacking the Wind Dragon despite the Wind Vein weakening their spells, while an unnoticed figure climbed toward the Wind Vein along the clash between the azure vortex and golden light pillar.

Ch. 418Celestial Merit

As Gao De’s warship lost its Holy Light Shield, a tornado overturned it, and Gao De and Tuanzi rescued mages from the sea. Meanwhile, the fleet and the High-Ring Mages faced mounting pressure from the Wind Elemental Creatures and Wind Dragon, until a humanoid azure figure slipped into the Wind Vein beneath the vortex.

  • The Storm Soul secretly followed the edge of the battlefield, devouring leaking Wind Elemental energy while Gao De was too occupied to watch it.
  • After the last Auric Crystal aboard Gao De’s warship ran out, Mage Ogg protected Gao De and fought a tornado with a Water Wall, but the spell broke and the tornado struck the ship.
  • Gao De used Ocean’s Touch to enter the sea with Tuanzi, and they rescued mages thrown overboard when the warship capsized.
  • The High-Ring Mages attacked the Wind Dragon, but its Azure Crystal Core restored its damaged body as the Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon neared exhaustion.
  • A 4th Circle Mage spotted a humanoid azure figure sneaking beneath the vortex and entering the Wind Vein.

Ch. 419Overload

The Storm Soul slipped into the Wind Vein and secretly absorbed particles from the Wind Dragon whenever the High-Ring Mages damaged it, helping them turn the tide while Gao De rescued mages from the sinking ships. With the Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon about to fall silent, the Storm Soul signaled for an attack on the Wind Dragon’s Azure Crystal Core, and Mage Theodore ordered the cannon overloaded.

  • The Storm Soul entered the Wind Vein unnoticed by the Wind Dragon and began consuming the Wind Elemental energy within it.
  • As Mage Theodore and the High-Ring Mages attacked, the Storm Soul devoured some of the particles torn from the Wind Dragon, preventing it from fully rebuilding its body.
  • Gao De and Tuanzi rescued mages from the sea as the warships lost their shields and sank under the Wind Dragon’s assault.
  • The Storm Soul signaled Mage Theodore to target the Azure Crystal Core in the Wind Dragon’s head, but the vortex around the creature’s mouth made a direct attack difficult.
  • With the Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon due to fall silent in thirty seconds, Mage Theodore ordered it overloaded to boost its power for the coming attack.

Ch. 420Wind Cleared, Sun Shone Bright

The Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon blasted the Wind Dragon, and Storm Soul swallowed its Azure Crystal Core before being swept away by the resulting energy torrent. With the core gone, the Wind Dragon died, the Wind Vein closed, and the surviving mages celebrated; meanwhile, Zuo Wen Burns arrived at Auckland City too late to help and learned that the unnamed Sea Sentinel Mage had already resolved the disasters he had pursued.

  • Mage Theodore ordered the gunners to overload the Auckland Magic Crystal Cannon, whose golden beam overpowered the Wind Dragon's azure vortex and struck its head.
  • Storm Soul darted in and swallowed the Wind Dragon's Azure Crystal Core, then was engulfed by a torrent of Wind Elemental energy.
  • The Wind Dragon collapsed without its core, and the Mage Plane gradually sealed the Wind Vein as the Wind Elemental Creatures returned through it.
  • The surviving mages cheered as sunlight broke through the clouds and the battlefield fell quiet.
  • Zuo Wen Burns reached Auckland City and learned from a City Guard that the mage force had sailed to confront the offshore Spatial Rift.
  • Zuo Wen Burns realized that the unnamed Sea Sentinel Mage had already handled both disasters, leaving him with no relief work or credit.

Ch. 421Auckland Honorary Mage

After the Wind Vein Crisis ended, Gao De was summoned by Earl Roland and Chief Mage Theodore, who mistakenly believed his Phantom Spirit had died and rewarded him with the title of Auckland Honorary Mage. The fleet returned to Auckland, and Gao De ended the chapter by using Feral Ingenuity+ to summon an azure figure.

  • The surviving mages rescued those in the water and searched the wreckage for valuable components as Gao De boarded a warship.
  • A High-Ring Mage brought Gao De to the Thorn Crown, where Gao De experienced flying for the first time.
  • Earl Roland and Theodore credited Gao De’s supposed sacrificed Phantom Spirit with helping defeat the Wind Vein crisis and offered him the title of Auckland Honorary Mage.
  • Gao De accepted the title and its privileges, including political voting rights and commercial benefits.
  • The fleet returned to Auckland Port, the summoned mages were dismissed, and Gao De found an open inn.
  • Gao De activated Feral Ingenuity+ and summoned an azure figure in his room.

Ch. 422Qi Control, Wind Transformation, Possession

Gao De saved the Storm Soul from the Wind Vein crisis, discovered its new abilities, and named it Boeing after learning it could possess him and grant him flight. After resting, he returned to Auckland’s ongoing flood relief and volunteered to help clear water beasts from Claw Valley Town.

  • Gao De revealed that he had rescued the Storm Soul by dispelling Feral Ingenuity+ at the last moment, then confirmed it was safe despite being stuffed with the Wind Dragon’s energy core.
  • The Storm Soul shared its three abilities—Qi Control, Wind Transformation, and Possession—and Gao De named it Boeing.
  • Boeing possessed Gao De, allowing him to manipulate air currents and fly briefly inside his room before Gao De released it to digest the energy core.
  • Gao De returned to City Square, where Earl Roland directed rescue, medical care, food distribution, and efforts to save farmland and repair the breached dike.
  • After a mage reported severe flooding and water beasts in Claw Valley Town, Earl Roland called for available mages, and Gao De volunteered to help.

Ch. 424One Merit, Three Rewards

Marquis Drake reviewed Earl Roland’s report on the Wind Vein crisis and ordered Gao De’s records retrieved so he could reward him appropriately. After disaster relief ended, Gao De returned to Dorne to submit his mission records, unaware that the Sea Sentinel had already begun assessing his merits based on Earl Roland’s request.

  • Marquis Drake learned that Gao De had played a crucial role in resolving the Wind Vein threat and ordered the Sea Sentinel to provide his records.
  • Earl Roland and Marquis Drake helped secure aid and a three-year tax exemption for Auckland’s disaster victims as relief efforts continued.
  • Gao De exterminated water beasts across Auckland, gained four first-ring Source Points, and invested them in enhancements to four spells.
  • The Sea Sentinel ended the Auckland rescue mission, and Gao De returned to Dorne to submit his records for military merit assessment.
  • Sea Sentinel mages speculated that Warrant Officer Ervin had earned the foremost merit in the Wind Vein mission while Gao De silently handed his records to Old Neil.
  • Lieutenant Colonel Grayling convened a meeting to review Earl Roland’s request for rewards, which praised Gao De’s contributions before, during, and after the Wind Vein mission.
