"Where is Lady Vayne?"
The Contact Officer responsible for communications asked the intelligence system.
"She's in her private armory..." the intelligence system replied.
The Contact Officer's expression froze when she heard that. Although she was anxious, she obediently waited outside, not daring to approach.
In the base, most of the high-level talents hired from outside had their own private spaces. The lord's internal intelligence system was not allowed to probe inside, and these spaces were isolated from it. Each such talent was assigned a dedicated Contact Officer to maintain communication with the higher-ups.
The reason was simple. These high-level talents each had their own secrets. Academic alchemists in particular carried precious Knowledge Bases with them, all of which were considered private property. Before they granted authorization, even their employer was not allowed to pry into them. To prevent theft, the places where they lived were generally isolated from the intelligence system!
For Agility Department warriors such as rangers and assassins, their armories were their absolute privacy.
Especially for a top Federation ranger like Vayne, her private armory was absolutely top-notch as well. High-Agility warriors were usually the least stingy when it came to spending money on their equipment. It was perfectly normal for an advanced ranger or assassin to own over a hundred sets of exclusive gear, but even their employer was not allowed to casually ask what exactly that equipment was.
If a Contact Officer like her dared to barge in recklessly, the lord would not hold anyone accountable even if she were shot dead on the spot!
Of course, this was generally a privilege reserved for high-level warriors. Those Martial School graduates who had just finished school were practically eager to display all their talents and weapon traits, hoping to win recognition from a better lord faction.
As
