Vinos silently watched Ya Ling. Having been with her for many years, he knew that she was not targeting him; it had merely been an unconscious reaction. As a guard, she clearly understood that the lord intended to question someone privately, so blocking the others had not been a problem.
But was he one of the others?
"Ya Ling." Vinos stared at her. "Do you know something?"
Ya Ling opened her big eyes and looked at him strangely. "What the hell are you talking about?"
Vinos looked at her. As always, her face seemed unable to hide anything, and there was no trace of scheming on it. But she knew that wasn't the case. Ya Ling had never been as simple as she appeared.
The title of Star Elf's First Ranger was not something one could obtain with skill alone. This woman was also a top figure who had survived since the Cataclysm Era, earning her reputation through mountains of corpses and seas of blood. "Why did the lord avoid us?" Vinos asked in a low voice.
"The lord does whatever he wants. When has he ever needed to explain himself to you?" Ya Ling's brows furrowed deeply. "I say, have you gotten your position wrong?"
Vinos fell silent for several seconds before finally saying, "But the lord has never avoided me."
"The way you're saying that makes it sound as if you're the lord's wife." Ya Ling looked at him with disdain. "The lord avoids you all the time, you know? You just don't realize it."
"Huh?" Vinos froze. Was that true?
"Tsk!" Ya Ling rolled her eyes at him. "You don't really think the lord has never left your side, do you?"
Vinos: ""
"Forget it." Vinos
