"At the beginning?"
Ais Sanctuary was stunned, unable to understand. What did Dutton mean by "at the beginning"? Did he mean when they first met? Had he started scheming back then?
He knew there were some hallucinogenic potions that could be prepared in advance, as long as enough time was given.
But could someone tamper with things right under so many people's eyes? And before entering the city gates, the elders had conducted inspections. If someone had tampered with him beforehand, logically, he should already have been eliminated!
So when Dutton said "at the beginning," he couldn't have meant before entering the city. In other words, it had happened after they entered?

But the key question was, how had Dutton used the venom on him?
