Almost instantly, everyone on the Wind Walker Team came to the same conclusion, including the usually arrogant and unreliable Bilan.
Captain Miller narrowed her eyes and looked over. The burly man was standing casually amid the encirclement of three assassins, yet his eyes were fixed on them. Clearly, he did not take the Shadow Song assassins within a few meters of him seriously at all, but those people so close to him did not dare move.
To be honest, she would not have dared either.
That man was far too dangerous!
She could not tell what race the burly man belonged to, but he was like a walking beast, his entire body radiating an unrestrained, savage aura brimming with aggression. One glance was enough to tell that he was a terrifying hunter!
When he had glanced at them earlier, they had instantly understood, as rangers, that they had been marked as prey. It should have been the most provocative gesture imaginable, after all, the Wind Walker Academy trained hunters. Yet for some reason, the moment they saw his eyes, everyone felt the urge to run.
Just as their instructor had taught them, a hunter and prey could often be identified in an instant. You had to learn to determine who was the hunter and who was the prey at the first opportunity. Survival had always come first in the Wind Walker creed, so they should not cling to so-called knightly honor. As rangers and scouts, they had to understand their position at all times. Once they judged themselves to be prey, they absolutely must not force themselves to believe they were hunters.
Prey had to possess the awareness of prey. When prey faced a hunter, its first thought absolutely should not be fighting!
