"What do you mean... 'eating people'?"

Everyone from Egg Dog in the warehouse froze on the spot. They even forgot to swallow the salty broth that was barely drinkable, and as they stood there in a daze, it dribbled from the corners of their mouths...

"Exactly what it sounds like..." Kulande sighed as he looked at Lei Xue and the others' expressions. Clearly, if he had not witnessed it himself, he would have worn the same expression if someone else had told him.

"Not long after your captain went inside, the Crystal Palace came alive..."

"Came alive?" Lei Xue asked blankly. She understood every word individually, but not when they were put together. What did it mean for a building to come alive?

"Not only did it come alive—it also eats people!" Kulande's expression turned ugly. He had originally had many Silver Knights under his command, but because they reacted a little too slowly, every last one of them had been eaten by that damned thing!

"Wait a moment..." Lei Xue rubbed her head, feeling that something was off. Why did this sound more and more like a ghost story? Did he mean that a haunted house was eating people?

Kulande was stunned as well. He had been here for more than a decade and had never heard of an earthquake happening here. Then, suddenly, he remembered the Crystal Palace that had come alive during the day, and an indescribable chill rose from the depths of his heart.
