Lei Xue studied naval architecture despite her mother's objections and worked on aircraft-carrier maintenance before entering Luofu's selection process. Her technical-channel assessment covered subjects including theoretical mechanics, fluid mechanics, ship principles, hull design, materials, welding, structure, strength, and vibration; she received A+ in both basic and professional knowledge, placing first overall by a twenty-point margin. 625 633
