"Where did you go?" Mother Lin's face betrayed no expression.
Lin Shuguang walked into the house as though nothing had happened, with Lin Xiaoxi still clinging to him like a limpet. "To a friend's place."
Mother Lin glared at him. "Your friend is pretty impressive, huh? Even made it onto TV?"
Lin Shuguang's smile froze.
Lin Xiaoxi hugged his neck and whispered, "We all saw it."
With that, she nimbly hopped down.
Lin Shuguang looked up to find both Lin Haiyang and Mother Lin staring at him, and his smile immediately turned sheepish.
Mother Lin abruptly stood up. "You little brat, getting pretty full of yourself, aren't you! How dare you go somewhere so dangerous! Huai City is so big, with so many powerful people. What were you doing messing around out there?"
Lin Shuguang lowered his head without explaining, nodding at everything his mother said and showing an excellent attitude toward admitting his mistakes.
After scolding him for quite a while, Mother Lin came forward, took hold of his arm, and checked him over. She sounded stern, but was actually concerned. "Did you get hurt anywhere?"
Lin Shuguang smiled. "No injuries. I could crush a Ferocious Beast of that level with one hand."
Mother Lin raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh, feeling pretty proud of yourself?"
Lin Shuguang: "..."
Mother Lin turned and simply walked away.
Lin Haiyang followed her, but gave Lin Shuguang a thumbs-up before leaving.
Lin Shuguang immediately perked up and returned the gesture.
Just then, a petite figure threw herself into his arms again.
Lin Xiaoxi tilted her head up, her eyes shining. "Big brother, are you really powerful now?"
"I do all right," Lin Shuguang replied casually.
"Oh!" Lin Xiaoxi said, then skipped back to her bedroom in high spirits.
Lin Shuguang looked puzzled.
