Night settled over everything.

After choosing an engagement ring, Xu Wei walked out of the jewelry store. "Xiao Yue, I've picked out the ring. I'll bring it over tonight for you to see... yeah, okay. Are you hungry? I'll bring you something to eat on the way... haha, just wait."

He had barely hung up when his vision suddenly went black, and someone abducted him on the spot.

Over ten minutes later.

"S-San? What are you doing?"

Inside an abandoned factory, Xu Wei finally made out his abductor in the moonlight. When he realized it was Feng San, his expression shifted, but he still forced himself to stay calm.

Feng San toyed with a dagger. "Xu Wei, have I ever wronged you?"

Xu Wei forced a smile. "What are you saying, San? We've known each other for eight years. We're like brothers. You're the one who brought me into this business. Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today."

Feng San smiled. "Like brothers? Is that really what you think?"

He looked at Xu Wei.

Xu Wei swallowed.

For some reason, despite Feng San's harmless smile, his eyes were exceptionally cold.

He already had some suspicions, but he still played dumb. "San, there must be some misunderstanding. Just tell me. I'll tell you everything I know!"

Whoosh!

Feng San suddenly plunged the dagger down.

Blood splattered.

Xu Wei screamed in agony. "San! Aah, San!"

Feng San's voice was cold. "I treated you like a brother, and you turned around and sold me out? After everything I've done for you over the years, you joined forces with outsiders to screw me over. How fucking low can you get?!"

"San, I didn't..." Xu Wei clutched his thigh, his face deathly pale.

Feng San grabbed his hair and slammed his head hard against the ground. "I fucking hate backstabbers more than anything! Only the two of us knew about the Desolate Ghost Ape King. Don't you know damn well why someone was hunting me down?"

Xu Wei's expression changed drastically. Blood covered his face, but he still refused to admit it. "San, it definitely wasn't me! It really wasn't! I don't know anything! You can't falsely accuse me. We've been friends for eight years!"

"So you do remember it's been eight years. Back then, you begged me to bring you into this business. Now that you can stand on your own, you turn around and sell me out?" In the darkness, Feng San's face was expressionless, colder and more murderous than ever. "I thought you wouldn't say anything when that woman came looking for you."

Xu Wei hurriedly said, "San, you have to believe me! I really didn't say anything then!"

"So that woman did come looking for you, didn't she?"

Feng San's words instantly made Xu Wei realize he had let it slip. "S-San, I really had no choice. I didn't know she was hunting you down. Really! I thought she... she wanted to do business with you..."

"Heh... hahaha..." Feng San laughed until tears almost came out, yet his heart was utterly desolate.

This was the good brother he had known for eight years!

"Do you even believe that yourself?"

Sensing his killing intent, Xu Wei's expression changed drastically. He knelt and begged for mercy. "San, don't kill me! I was wrong. I'll never do it again!"

Feng San fell silent, his eyes sorrowful. "Xu Wei, from now on, we're no longer brothers."

Joy appeared on Xu Wei's face.

But the next second.

A white flash streaked past as the dagger swept across.

Feng San turned and left.

Behind him, a silver engagement ring rolled out of Xu Wei's pocket in the moonlight.

At home.

Lin Shuguang's little sister pestered him for red porridge. When he said there wasn't any, she said, "Then teach me the spell." Either way, he had to choose one.

Her pestering gave Lin Shuguang a headache.

Just then, his phone rang. He seized the chance to slip away to his room.

Seeing the caller ID, Lin Shuguang answered, and Feng San's voice came through.

"Shuguang, it's me."

Lin Shuguang's expression remained unchanged. "Did something happen to you?"

Feng San told him about being hunted down. When Lin Shuguang mentioned Chen Xian, Feng San froze. "She found you? I thought I was the only one she was after. Xu Wei probably figured out the information about you... I used to get goods from you all the time..."

Lin Shuguang was silent for a while. "How are things on your end now?"

Feng San chuckled over the phone. "I slipped away the moment I caught wind of it. Nothing happened."

He did not mention a word about what had happened with Xu Wei, either.

Lin Shuguang considered for a moment. "Are you back?"

Feng San replied, "I hid out of town for a few days. I only got back to Huai City tonight. I'm by the tunnel right now... oh, right, I found out who that woman is. It's not convenient to discuss it over the phone. Shall we meet tomorrow?"

"See you at the Martial Arts Hall tomorrow."

"Sure-who's there?!"

The call abruptly cut off.

Lin Shuguang's expression changed.

Something happened to Feng San!

He hurriedly pushed open the door and went out.

"Mom, I'm heading out."

"Where are you going this late? When will you be back?"

Before she had finished speaking, Lin Shuguang was already out the front door.

"Who's there?!"

The instant Feng San spoke, the car he was driving seemed to be struck by an unstoppable force. The entire front end was brutally smashed into twisted scrap metal, while the rear half shot up until it was almost vertical.

With a crash, the car slammed back to the ground.

Feng San shot out of the car and tumbled onto the grass beside it, his face covered in blood.

"You're Feng San?" A clear, cold female voice rang out.

Feng San turned his head and saw that figure dressed in red. His heart sank.

It's this woman! She's still in Huai City?!

Yet he feigned anger. "You know who I am, and you still dare attack me in Huai City? Got a death wish?!"

Chen Xian's expression remained impassive as she approached step by step. "As long as you're Feng San. Tell me, where did you get the Desolate Ghost Ape King?"

Knowing she was a Martial Artist and he could not fight her head-on, Feng San put on an exaggerated show of confusion. "What Desolate Ghost Ape King?"

Chen Xian snorted coldly and was about to attack when Feng San suddenly asked in a low, serious voice, "How did you know?"

Chen Xian raised an eyebrow and stared at him coldly.

Feng San stood up, ignoring the blood on his face, and complained, "If we're on the same side, why didn't you just say so? Why start a fight? I've got plenty of Martial Artists among my clients, and none of them would dare treat me like this! If you wanted the Desolate Ghost Ape King, you should've said so. How much are you offering?"

Chen Xian narrowed her eyes. "Still playing dumb!"

She reached out and struck Feng San directly on the shoulder with her palm.

Feng San spat out a mouthful of blood and was sent flying again. Half his body seemed to have lost all feeling, and terror filled his heart.

For the first time in his life, he regretted not training hard in martial arts.

He raised his head and shouted through a mouthful of blood, "What the fuck are you talking about?!"

Chen Xian approached step by step, the killing intent radiating from her almost taking physical form.

With every step, dust billowed around her.

Fear gripped Feng San's heart. He quietly reached toward his pocket with the hand he could still feel, trying to get his phone.

Chen Xian's voice rang out. "Three days ago, you knew I was looking for you, so you fled before I could get to you. Yet today, when you see me, you play dumb?

"Feng San, I'm giving you a chance to live. Don't waste it.

"Tell me, did Lin Shuguang have anything to do with my brother's death?"
