Lin Shuguang had previously tried and failed to contact Song Dao. Now that Song Dao was trying to contact Lin Shuguang, a twist of fate made them miss each other again.
"Still no success?" the Old General asked gravely.
"There's been no response." Song Dao's expression was somewhat strange as well.
The Old General hesitated, then asked solemnly, "Do you think something happened to him?"
Song Dao looked puzzled. "Surely not. That kid seems pretty sharp. He survived in the Demon Domain for so long; he wouldn't just drop dead. He probably has a bad signal right now."
The Old General's solemn expression froze.
A bad signal... you actually had the nerve to say that?
If you couldn't communicate through mental power, it simply meant the other person couldn't be bothered with you. What did signal strength have to do with it? Did you really think you were making a phone call?
Ignoring the old man's forced attempt to save face, the Old General asked once more to make sure, "He really is all right? Can you sense him?"
"He should... be all right," Song Dao said after a moment's hesitation. "When I contacted him just now, it wasn't like nobody was picking up. I imagine he's fine."
Hearing this, the Old General rubbed his brow. "Keep trying to contact him. The situation in the Demon Domain is complicated right now, so get in touch with him as soon as possible. His status is somewhat unusual, too. It would be best if nothing happened to him."
Just as he was about to leave, something seemed to occur to the Old General, and he added, "Oh, and if possible, ask him about the situation over there, and whether he knows the Giant Demon's whereabouts..."
He then left the other courtyard.
