Native plants of Hutton Kingdom swayed in the summer breeze, their leaves and grass covered in morning dew. In the reflection, they seemed to be searching for an eternal, unchanging radiance.
"Our school probably won't become lively again until the latter half of the year."
Lanchi looked around the campus, his expression slightly lonely, and sighed to Hughberlian.
"Indeed."
Hughberlian echoed Lanchi.
What is this, a speech from the school administration?
"In the future... I mean, after everything has settled down, if you really become the administrator of Iketerite Academy, will you take the position?"
Hughberlian asked quietly.
She remembered that Lanchi's goal was to retire at twenty, but she didn't know whether his drive to work would lead him to accept reemployment after retirement.
"On the condition that Iketerite Academy desperately needs me. If everyone can still live happily without me, then I won't show up again."
Lanchi shook his head indifferently.
"Being an ordinary lecturer at Iketerite Academy would be fine, though. The workload isn't heavy, and I could still help the school a little."
Hughberlian nodded silently at his words.
"But Lanchi, my father has been missing for more than a year already. Even if we rescue him by then, I'll most likely be the one who becomes the duchess, not the omnipotent all-rounder Duke Mi Gaiya. Are you sure you still want to cling to the duchess's coattails?"
Hughberlian reminded him.
If he remained missing for two full years, he would be considered dead, and the title had already entered the process of being inherited by the duchess's daughter. Even if Duke Mi Gaiya returned, he would no longer be the duke.
She was worried that Lanchi would end up working against his own wishes and gain nothing in the end.
