They drove the streamlined Magic Guide Speedboat across the bay, while the bridge lights refracted through the water into a dim glow. The skyline of Demon King City Nekaris had yet to appear in the distance.
"The Blood Race Envoy will arrive at Demon King City today. I estimate it won't get light all morning."
Lisandra gazed at the six o'clock night sky and sighed.
To welcome the visiting Blood Race Envoy, the demons had even activated a canopy barrier over the royal capital of Nekaris, blocking out the sunlight like an eclipse.
Looking toward the bay of Neka Island in the distance, the dark buildings and low houses on the opposite shore looked like a dreamscape built from dark gold. Nekaris City was still filled with mystery and beauty, like the infatuation of first seeing the dawn.
The amber Magic Guide Vehicle sped across the surface of the sea.
Just as they were speeding along parallel to the elevated bridge and drawing closer to Neka Island, the sound of air stirred by flapping wings rang out. A small Flying Dragon Cavalry officer struggled to catch up with them.
"Stop! Inspection!"
The Demon Realm officer shouted sternly over the wind and waves.
Today was the day the Blood Race Envoy came to visit, and several traffic routes near the royal palace on Neka Island had been closed or placed under speed restrictions. No one had expected a demon to choose this very day to take the sea route straight toward the royal palace.
"I work over at the royal palace..."
Lisandra hurriedly turned her head and spoke in a weak voice.
