At that moment, Horton gave a few soft groans and slowly opened his eyes.

It took him a long while to remember what had happened. Tears streamed down his face as he gently wiped the thick, clotted blood beneath his nose.

He cried as he wiped it, not daring to say a word.

Harmon sat dejectedly on the floor. Seeing his son's pitiful state, he felt both heartbroken and regretful.

Suye slowly walked up to Horton. Terrified, Horton desperately curled up his body like a pangolin under attack.

Suye looked at Harmon again and said, "Everyone is a father's son, but after meeting Horton, I learned that not everyone has a mother."

Harmon was stunned for quite a while before he understood what Suye was insulting him with.

Kelton pointed at Suye and said to Hark, "See that mouth of his? It can infuriate someone to death."

Suye suddenly reached out toward Horton and gave his finger a slight wave. Horton's belt actually came loose and slowly floated into the air.

Everyone present widened their eyes and stared fixedly at the belt floating in midair before turning to stare at Suye.

A leaking sound came from Horton's throat, and his eyes filled with terror.

Suye... How could he be a Magic Apprentice? How could he be?

Only then did he understand why Suye had not been afraid to get into the carriage with him. As long as Suye revealed that he was a Magic Apprentice, Horton would not have dared to act even if he had ten times the courage.

Horton's heart filled with despair.

Senit glanced at his old friend Harmon, hating him so much that he nearly ground his teeth to pieces and wished he could slit his throat on the spot.

Harmon and Horton had repeatedly claimed that Suye was a poor student who could never become a mage, which was why Senit had stepped in.

Now, Suye was not only a Magic Apprentice but also a second-year Magic Apprentice at Plato Academy. That might not amount to much across the entire world, but in Athens City, such a genius's status was no lower than that of a Bronze Warrior.

Senit would rather offend ten ordinary mages than one Magic Apprentice from Plato Academy.

Harmon's hands began trembling uncontrollably. No matter how wealthy or knowledgeable he was, he was still an ordinary person. Now that he had witnessed Suye wielding magical power with his own eyes, the psychological defenses that had already been riddled with holes collapsed completely.

Harmon went completely mad. He rushed in front of Horton and began raining punches down on him.

"You little beast! Are you trying to get our entire family wiped out?"

"Thank goodness he wasn't hurt! If he'd been injured here, I could only have fled into exile! You actually dared insult a mage! Who gave you the nerve? Who gave you the nerve?"

"You little beast! You nearly got me killed..."

Harmon completely forgot that he was a father and looked more like an avenger. Punches were not enough, so he began kicking as well.

Horton was already seriously injured, and after a few blows, he was knocked unconscious.

Hark looked at the belt floating in midair and lowered his head in thought. Can I get my Magic Short Sword back after all?

Kelton looked at Suye and suddenly felt that, in merely one day, Suye seemed to have been reborn. He could not even see through him anymore.

A second-year Magic Apprentice who had only just begun the school year two days ago could already be considered outstanding even at Plato Academy, where geniuses gathered.

Suye withdrew his magic and walked to the door. "Harmon said I wouldn't be able to leave this place today unless I filled a cup with blood. So today, let them spend the night inside." With that, he walked out.

"No problem." Kelton rose to his feet.

Senit hurriedly bent forward and lowered his head. "Mr. Kelton, Mr. Suye, Mr. Hark, rest assured. I'll keep an eye on them."

Kelton glanced at Hark, signaling for him to handle the aftermath, then followed Suye outside.

Along the way, numerous guests greeted Kelton. He usually just gave them a slight nod. Only when he encountered a few select guests did he smile and say that he was seeing someone off and would chat with them later.

Those who could afford to dine at Dolphin River Restaurant were either rich or powerful. They immediately focused their attention on Suye, curious about who could make Kelton personally see him off.

Suye did not know any of them and walked straight outside.

"Won't you stay for dinner?" Kelton asked from outside.

"I've already eaten two meals." Suye replied.

Kelton nodded. "Other than the food being a little lacking in flavor, the academy cafeteria isn't inferior to my place in any other regard. But how did you suddenly advance to Magic Apprentice? As far as I know, advancing to Magic Apprentice is far more difficult than advancing to Warrior."

"Maybe I'm just lucky." Suye replied.

"Achievers all like to use luck to conceal their hard work and appear modest. By the way, those one hundred Golden Eagles are no longer a loan. They belong entirely to you now; consider them my investment." Kelton smiled.

Suye was about to thank him when he suddenly asked, "When did you make that decision?"

"After Hark came back that day and told me what happened when you went to Blunt Knife Tavern." Kelton replied.

Suye pondered this, then smiled. "I see. So you now possess a mage's friendship as well."

"You mean I didn't have one before?" Kelton asked, caught between laughter and tears.

The two chatted at the door for a while before Kelton arranged a carriage to take Suye away.

Watching the carriage disappear at the end of the street, the smile vanished from Kelton's face. He turned and walked back into the restaurant. His smile returned, and without paying attention to the other guests, he walked back to that room.

Horton's two young servants were squatting on the floor. Horton was covered in blood and unconscious.

Harmon had beaten himself tired and was sitting in a chair, panting heavily.

Senit had completely taken on the role of supervisor, watching the others with unparalleled cooperation.

Hark stood at the door, motionless.

The moment Kelton entered, the smile vanished from his face again.

He sat in a chair and stared at Harmon.

Harmon felt Kelton's icy gaze and grew numb in the scalp. He hurriedly said, "Mr. Kelton, I didn't know Suye was your friend. If I had known, I definitely would have made that little bastard Horton apologize."

"Your son is a little bastard, so what does that make you?" Kelton asked with a dark expression.

"I'm a big bastard!" Harmon's tone was surprisingly self-righteous.

Seeing Harmon insult himself so thoroughly, Kelton's expression softened.

"How are we going to resolve this?" Kelton asked.

Harmon hurriedly said, "Don't worry. Once we leave here, I'll take Horton to Suye's house and kowtow as we apologize. I'll make sure Mr. Suye is satisfied."

"If he's satisfied, what about me?"

Harmon nearly burst into tears at that. What does this have to do with you? But aloud, he said, "Please rest assured. I'll compensate you for the cost of dirtying your room. I'll pay ten times the value of everything that was broken."

"You made Suye break my heart!" Kelton said.

"Huh?" Harmon looked confused. What did this have to do with him?

A fleeting smile appeared at the corner of Hark's mouth.

Kelton said, "Suye actually said you had better judgment than I did. I'm heartbroken!"

"I really don't understand what you mean." Harmon thought Kelton was just making excuses to punish him and spoke with a sob in his voice.

Kelton snorted. "I invested one hundred Golden Eagles in him the day before yesterday, and you actually dared to invest two hundred Golden Eagles!"
