Everyone in the Underground City-State was forcibly drawn to look upward, unable even to blink. This clearly restricted the vast majority of their combat strength.
Some of the society members quickly captured them.
"Hey, hey, hey! Who's behind me!"
"Don't touch me! You bunch of bastards!"
"What happened?"
"Ah, my eyes... They're so dry. Why can't I blink?"
"They're Surface Dwellers! The Surface Dwellers have invaded! Those sinners are here!"
The citizens were utterly dumbfounded. They had no idea that the Blue White Society had come, because nothing like this had ever happened in the Underground City-State.
Their understanding of the outside world came almost entirely from the internet.
It could be said that the netizens had to bear most of the blame for the Underground citizens' various negative impressions of the surface.
Many online users never cared about what they said on the internet. After shedding their real-world disguises and losing the constraints of social supervision, they spread huge amounts of negative and violent rhetoric, or put on ridiculous and clumsy performances.
This made the citizens believe that most Surface Dwellers were restless, perverse, vain, selfish, and conceited.
The citizens also never actually came into contact with living Surface Dwellers. The only real-time, non-television figures they could see who were close to everyday life were livestreaming internet celebrities and the like.
All these factors caused the misunderstanding and prejudice to go unrelieved and unanswered.
Even when they saw some positive things, a few comments would ultimately claim that they were staged performances, and the citizens would follow suit and accept that judgment.
Even though those who made such claims accounted for only a tiny fraction of the commenters.
Under this cognitive bias, no matter how many comments there were beneath a post, if only one ignorant netizen said it
