Jiang Ning ignored Xue Yuantong.
Xue Yuantong did not mind. "Could it be that you like the same things I do?"
"I can't be bothered to choose," Jiang Ning said.
As they spoke, Xue Yuantong shifted onto the back seat, moving carefully for fear of jostling the cake and coconut milk jelly.
"Carriage, take me home!" Xue Yuantong patted the seat.
Jiang Ning did not move.
"What are you waiting for? Hurry up." She acted brazenly. "I need to get home and cook!"
Jiang Ning started the mountain bike.
It was lunchtime, and Aunt Gu was still at work at the company, right in the middle of a busy stretch.
After Jiang Ning got home, he found a stool and sat in the kitchen, watching Xue Yuantong wash vegetables and cook the entire time.
Perhaps because she had bought cake, Xue Yuantong cooked especially quickly today. There were only two dishes in total: Garlic Chive Stir-fried Squid and homemade stir-fried pork.
The staple was steamed buns made by Xue Yuantong. Although Jiang Ning still had spirit rice on hand, he did not take it out.
He worried that if Xue Yuantong ate too much of it, she would have trouble getting used to ordinary rice afterward. Eating it once in a while was enough.
This batch of spirit rice had only been grown as a trial, and there was not much of it. Once the next batch ripened, it could become a regular staple.
Pumpkin rice soup, along with small cake and coconut milk jelly, made for quite a lavish lunch.
Even after the food was ready, Jiang Ning still did not move. He waited for Xue Yuantong to serve the food and bring the chopsticks to his mouth.
Anywhere else, Jiang Ning's behavior would probably have drawn criticism.
