Ch. 384Calamities

In Heliopolis, Kasim taught Abu that fear and uncertain divine favor fueled faith before announcing Ra’s oracle of seven calamities. Meanwhile, the upheaval in the mortal realm weakened the chains holding Apophis, leaving the chaos serpent close to awakening.

  • Kasim questioned Abu about the pilgrims’ devotion and explained how calamities and uncertain blessings strengthened faith in the gods.
  • Abu told Kasim he had seen visions of the sky breaking, the world’s forces unraveling, and destruction spreading across the earth, but Kasim dismissed them as false.
  • Kasim announced Ra’s oracle that foreign gods would send seven calamities against Egypt and that creatures beneath the earth would carry out Ra’s will.
  • In Hermenu, Apophis grew stronger as the world fell into chaos, and the chains restraining the sleeping serpent began to break.

Ch. 385Falsehood and Truth

Aaron recorded a version of the disasters for future generations as skeletons rose from the ground and threatened the Hebrew city. In Memphis, Ramses II encountered Ra, who promised to personally end the disasters.

  • Aaron rejected the idea of plundering Memphis but remained troubled by Messer's refusal to seek revenge and his criticism of Aaron's sacrifices.
  • Aaron wrote an account of the plagues and planned to compile the Hebrews' hardships into a book, omitting deaths he thought would undermine their heritage.
  • Skeletons emerged from the earth near the city and the Egyptian camp, and Aaron ran back to help stabilize the situation.
  • Ramses II lamented Egypt's disasters and prayed to Ra before falling asleep and awakening in a strange divine realm.
  • Ramses II offered Ra everything he had, and Ra agreed to personally bring the disasters to an end.

Ch. 386Land Divided

Ramses II learned that the dead had risen and that earthquakes were tearing through Egypt, so he ordered an expedition to lead the Sinners out of the land. As an immense host of undead reached Memphis, the Spirit World’s Fifth Layer absorbed a surge of power and its four elemental lights exploded.

  • A minister told Ramses II that the dead had risen with the plague and were heading toward the Hebrews.
  • Earthquakes split Memphis and the surrounding land as Ramses II ordered Merneptah to take men to the Holy City and prepared to go there himself to drive the Sinners out of Egypt.
  • Messer resisted the shaking in Memphis while cracks in the earth carried countless undead toward the city, where Aaron recognized the arrival as the eighth punishment sent upon Egypt.
  • In the Fifth Layer of the Spirit World, blood-red mist flowed into the dim yellow-brown light point, drawing power from the other three elemental lights.
  • The Spirit World Core’s barrier vanished, attracting the attention of its inhabitants, and the four colored lights at its center exploded.

Ch. 387Egyptian-Style 'Heaven-Opening Treasure'

Geb entered the Fifth Layer of the Spirit World and was consumed as the elemental planes completed their formation, while the Spirit World's transformation opened a path toward the Primordial Water. Meanwhile, Ramses II reached Sun City with the Benben Stone and prepared to enter the city where the Hebrews were sheltering.

  • Geb searched for the other Egyptian gods, but Hermenu's failing protection shattered and exposed him to the void.
  • A supreme will drew Geb into the earth's point of light, completing the elemental planes and triggering a burst of power through the Spirit World.
  • The Well of Reincarnation cleansed the fallen Egyptian gods' souls and returned them as elemental lives; the first earth elemental awoke and called himself Heart of the Mountains.
  • Ryan judged the elemental cycle insufficient and considered using it to digest part of the Primordial Water's power.
  • Ramses II reached Sun City's outskirts with the Benben Stone, which let his group pass safely through the undead.
  • Ramses removed the Benben Stone and stood before Sun City, where the Hebrews were protecting the city dedicated to Ra.

Ch. 388Behold the Sun

Ramses reached Sun City and honored his agreement to release and expel the Hebrews, but after Messer signed the document, he stabbed him in the name of enforcing Egyptian law. As the protection around the city faded and the undead advanced, “Ramses” waited to see how the Outer God would respond to Messer’s death.

  • Ramses led his followers into Sun City, where he saw Messer shielding the Hebrews from the undead and confirmed his decision to meet him.
  • Messer welcomed Ramses and believed the Pharaoh had come to honor their agreement and let the Hebrews leave Egypt.
  • Ramses and Messer signed a document releasing and expelling the Hebrews, and Messer promised they would never return.
  • Ramses stabbed Messer, claiming Egyptian law required the death of a murderer, and the divine protection around the Hebrews began to fade.
  • As Messer lay dying, “Ramses” questioned what the Outer God wanted from him and waited to see what would happen after his death.
  • Above the Source Sea, Thoth focused on an unexplained task while Nephthys and Thoth remained beside Ra as the last two Pillar Gods.

Ch. 389Seizing the Name

Ra seized the moment when the Foreign Domain’s power weakened, left the Source Sea, and challenged the Outer God in the mortal world. Meanwhile, Isis helped Thoth begin a ritual to sever his heavenly self from his mortal soul, leaving his heavenly half to perish as the ritual took hold.

  • Ra sensed the Foreign Domain’s power retreating and realized the Source Sea’s restrictions had loosened.
  • Ra descended to the mortal world in the Great Sun Heavenly Sphere, accepting the wounds caused by breaking the barrier and vowing to defeat the Outer God.
  • Isis and Thoth began the soul-severing ritual, with Isis supplying the life force and Thoth using his Divine Artifact tome.
  • Thoth checked the ritual, activated it, and was swallowed by its patterns as cracks spread across his body and heavenly pillar.
  • Thoth’s heavenly half began to collapse as his consciousness shifted toward his mortal Ba, while his authority started to leave him.

Ch. 390New Saint

As Thoth’s ritual left him suspended between life and death, Isis seized his fate, magic, and Wisdom Divinity, then killed him and took his Divine Artifact. In Sun City, Ra sensed Thoth’s death and prepared to face Amon Ra with the Benben Stone.

  • Thoth spoke with Nephthys on the Source Sea as his body broke apart, and Nephthys watched the Outer God’s power descend and destroy her.
  • Isis used Thoth’s unfinished ritual to draw his fate, magic, and Wisdom Divinity into herself, then broke through his barrier and took his Divine Artifact.
  • Isis exposed Thoth’s plan to survive as an artifact spirit and shattered the spirit, killing him before reclaiming the Divine Authorities of wisdom and magic.
  • In Sun City, ‘Ramses’ sensed the undead’s destruction and concluded that Thoth had died.
  • Ra took the Benben Stone and prepared to confront Amon Ra, believing the sun would rise again after setting.

Ch. 391Sunrise and Sunset

After Messer was killed, Aaron led the Hebrews in a desperate escape from the Egyptians while Ra gathered power and unleashed his light across Hermenu. The chapter leaves Ra confronting Amon Ra above the Primordial Water as God commands, “Separate.”

  • ‘Ramses’ abandoned the staff, teleported half the ministers to the Egyptian camp, ordered a massacre of the Hebrews, and sent the Benben Stone toward the sun.
  • Aaron took Messer’s powerless staff and corpse, rallied the survivors, and led them toward the mountain where Messer had encountered God.
  • Ra reasoned that he needed to claim the power of the Absolute Void and destroyed Hermenu’s moon as he prepared to wield his full might.
  • Ra-Atum unleashed golden light and heat throughout Hermenu, prompting its inhabitants to witness his radiance and praise him.
  • Above the Primordial Water, Amon Ra felt his power increase as God remained unchanged, then commanded, “Separate.”

Ch. 392Swallowing the Sun

Amon Ra let Apophis break free and swallow the sun so the serpent would grow powerful enough to attack the Outer God. As Apophis charged beyond the world toward its target, Ra prepared to use the clash to complete his plan.

  • Amon Ra used the Absolute Void against the Outer God, then feigned weakness while secretly allowing Apophis’s chains to break.
  • Apophis freed itself, burst through the Egyptian afterlife, and swallowed Hermenu’s sun.
  • After growing stronger, Apophis ignored Amon Ra and charged toward the Outer God above the Primordial Water.
  • Amon Ra stepped aside, believing Apophis had become the final piece of his plan.

Ch. 393Forging 'Sword'

Apophis swallowed the sun but was torn apart by an Outer God, who then subdued the serpent long enough to forge its body into a Black Sword. Ra-Atum attacked the Outer God and chose to perish with the sun, while Amon Ra gained immense power and began to suspect the Outer God had planned for this outcome.

  • Apophis swallowed the sun, but an unknown force pried open its jaws and split the Great Serpent in two, freeing the sun.
  • Apophis regenerated into two serpents and attacked each other until the Outer God fed it a drop of liquid that briefly made it lose consciousness.
  • Ra joined Apophis's halves and refined the serpent into a Black Sword, combining its power with death and destruction.
  • Ra-Atum hurled the sun at the Outer God, but the Black Sword pierced him and split the sun apart.
  • Ra-Atum ignited himself and the sun, choosing to perish alongside the Outer God for Hermenu's sake.
  • Amon Ra felt his power grow as the sun fell and wondered whether the Outer God had anticipated the benefits he would gain.

Ch. 394God Said Forty Days

Aaron led the Hebrews toward the mountain while Messer, dead and watching from beyond the world, faced God and reaffirmed his choice to stand by his people. God made a second covenant with Messer, granting him forty days—forty years on earth—before he would lose everything; meanwhile, the sun’s destruction continued as the Black Sword struck the Benben Stone.

  • Aaron told the Hebrews to wait at the mountain’s foot while he carried Messer’s body up, and he proclaimed the darkness God’s punishment on Egypt.
  • Messer watched Aaron and the Hebrews from beyond death, understood that his first covenant had ended, and realized he could reclaim his power by abandoning his people.
  • God asked Messer whether he regretted his choice, and Messer answered that he did not, offering everything he possessed and asking to return to guide the Hebrews.
  • God granted Messer forty days, equaling forty years in the mortal world, and promised that he and his people would cross the sea and return to the old kingdom, though Messer would be stopped at the final destination.
  • As the second covenant was established, the sun broke free and was shattered, while the Black Sword struck the Benben Stone opposite Amon Ra.

Ch. 395This Was 'Unparalleled in the World'

After Ra-Atum’s death, Amon Ra absorbed the completed Absolute Void and prepared to exploit Hermenu’s collapse. Ryan forged the demonic sword into a vessel for a world’s death, then drew it and struck as Amon Ra stood before him.

  • Amon Ra watched Ra-Atum perish and felt the Absolute Void’s yin and yang unite within him.
  • Amon Ra learned that the Eight Primal Gods were manifestations of Hermenu’s four fundamental aspects, then withdrew the Absolute Void’s power as the world began to fail.
  • Lyanna entered the Spirit World’s core pool, opened the crystal seal, and cradled the drop of water within it as she praised the Almighty Lord.
  • Ryan erased Apophis, melted the Benben Stone into a physical demonic sword, and prepared it to carry the finality of Hermenu’s death.
  • Ryan drew the sword as Amon Ra faced him, then delivered a single stroke that separated all things.

Ch. 396World Extinction

Ryan used the demon sword to kill Hermenu and began forging the sword from the dead world's remains as Khaos consumed it. After destroying Amon Ra, he watched the mortal world fragment and noticed that some mortals' beliefs were beginning to gather around him.

  • Khaos's power overwhelmed Hermenu's barriers and flooded the Source Sea as Amon Ra answered the world's final call.
  • Ryan's demon sword cut through Amon Ra's defenses and struck Hermenu's heart, ending the world's life.
  • Genesis Source Power was exhausted in the blow, while a new force of death and annihilation grew within the sword.
  • Ryan drove the sword into the Abyss Surface to absorb the Primordial Water and strengthen its forging.
  • Ryan used the sword's lingering power to destroy everything belonging to Amon Ra, then saw the mortal world break into fragments.
  • Ryan noticed that some mortals' beliefs were gathering around him before he and the demon sword remained alone above the Primordial Water.

Ch. 397An-Ra

As the shattered Egyptian world faced extinction, Kasim turned Abu’s visions into a new faith centered on An-Ra, persuading the Egyptians that their old gods had been aspects or traitors to the supreme Lord. Their belief gathered the Ennead’s lost divine concepts, while a mysterious presence in the void sensed something newly connected to it.

  • The Nile revived when Hapi survived the destruction of Hermenu, though he remained asleep and could not answer the Egyptians’ prayers.
  • Abu told Kasim that Ramses II had vanished in Heavenly Fire and that the land had been divided, and Kasim sent him to the sacrifice to give the people faith.
  • A priest denounced the gods as dead and urged the Egyptians to act, but Kasim let him speak before presenting Abu’s visions as evidence of a greater god.
  • Abu named the god he had sensed as An-Ra, and Kasim recast Egyptian history to claim that Ra and the Ennead had betrayed the Lord and that Amon had stolen the sun.
  • Kasim declared that Abu would become the Egyptian Great Seer, and the Egyptians’ belief gathered the Ennead’s displaced divine concepts into the Chronicles of Time.
  • A mysterious thought in the void beyond Hermenu sensed that something had appeared within it through an inexplicable connection.

Ch. 398The End of the Old God King and Rebellious God Amon

After losing his identity as Ra, the surviving consciousness learned that it had no foundation left and vanished, allowing Amon to become a true god with a personality. Amon set off through the passage to Khaos, while the chapter ended with the Foreign Domain’s influence reaching the Underworld.

  • Amon taunted Ra over losing his name, power, and place in the world, while Ra recalled how his escape plan had failed and left him with only the power of replacement.
  • Ra realized that the voice within him was Amon, one of Hermenu’s Eight Primal Gods, whose personality had emerged as Ra’s own identity was erased.
  • Amon explained that the Outer God’s influence and the mortals’ new worship had given him a plausible identity as Ra’s rebellious God Child, while leaving Ra with no past or future of his own.
  • Ra’s consciousness stopped resisting and disappeared after Amon declared that Ra no longer had any foundation for existence.
  • Amon formed a young man’s body, resolved to reach the Foreign Domain and replace some incarnations, then followed a passage toward Khaos.
  • The Foreign Domain’s influence reached Khaos’s Underworld after Hermenu was completely destroyed.

Ch. 399Temptation and Beginning

Hades learned that Hera planned to attack Athens and its Parthenon Divine Temple, while Erebus investigated disturbances in the World Power and confirmed Ryan was absent from Khaos. Hera and Aphrodite prepared to take revenge on their enemies.

  • Hades discussed a disturbance near Tartarus with Persephone and learned Hera wanted the Underworld gods to help destroy Athena’s Parthenon Divine Temple in Athens.
  • Hades left Eris and the other Underworld gods free to join Hera’s campaign, while he refused to involve himself.
  • Erebus sensed that Tartarus had reacted to a threat from beyond the world and considered how rising World Power could reshape the gods and intensify his own pressure.
  • Erebus tried to cover the Shadow Moon with darkness, but a snow-white finger erased his attack; he concluded Ryan was in the Foreign Domain rather than the spirit world.
  • Hera asked Aphrodite whether their preparations were ready, and Aphrodite vowed their enemies would pay.

Ch. 400Harvest

Hera and Aphrodite discussed preparations to stop Athena and unite the mortal kingdoms, while Ryan assessed the gains from Egypt’s destruction and planned how to absorb Hermenu’s powers. Ryan returned to Athens because his spiritual intuition warned that a vision was about to unfold there, and he resolved to prevent Zeus from unifying the mortal world before his divine avatar returned.

  • Aphrodite and Hera discussed a plan to strike Athena, prepare Divine Descent avatars, and form an alliance of mortal kingdoms.
  • After Aphrodite vanished, Hera reflected on her jealousy of other goddesses and recommitted herself to her role as Zeus’s wife.
  • Ryan returned to Athens after more than a year had passed in Khaos and observed the city’s preparations for war.
  • Ryan assessed the Egyptian gods, the sun, the moon, Ra’s legacy, and the Primordial Water as gains from Hermenu, considering how they could strengthen his domains.
  • Ryan decided Zeus must not unify the mortal world before his divine avatar returned, and his intuition led him to expect a foreseen scene to occur in Athens.

Ch. 401Blood Banquet

Theseus brought Demophon to Eleusis to negotiate amid growing resistance to his reforms, but the city’s leaders answered with a massive Divine Descent. Theseus prepared to fight the gods’ forces and began slaughtering the people of Eleusis.

  • Theseus told Demophon that he had come to Eleusis to negotiate on his own terms and warned that refusal could make the city the first sacrifice of a coming war.
  • At the banquet, Demophon recognized that Eleusis’s nobles showed worldly submission while the absent Agricultural Church officials signaled spiritual opposition.
  • Theseus revealed that the officials were performing a Divine Descent Ritual, and divine power began gathering on the horizon.
  • Theseus sensed several gods’ incarnations arriving, including powers associated with Demeter and the Underworld, and ordered Demophon to prepare to leave.
  • As more auras appeared, Theseus declared that he would keep the gods from entering the mortal world and attacked, turning the ground red with blood.

Ch. 402Love and the Unevenness of Love

Theseus tried to escape the gods’ trap in Eleusis, but Demophon betrayed him and stabbed him while Hera’s forces surrounded them. Aphrodite suddenly unleashed her divine power, creating an opening for Theseus to flee toward Athens as Hera and the other gods pursued him.

  • Theseus broke through four Divine Descent avatars before discovering that the final obstacle was Hera disguised as Demeter.
  • Theseus charged Hera while shielding Demophon, but Demophon stabbed him in the chest and joined the gods.
  • Hera and the gathered gods surrounded Theseus, and he condemned their treatment of mortals while recounting the disastrous history of Cadmus’s descendants.
  • Aphrodite erupted with power that tore open the veil over Eleusis, and Theseus seized the distraction to race toward Athens.
  • Hera ordered the gods to pursue Theseus and stop him before he could reach Athens.

Ch. 403Obstruction and Obstruction

Hermes used a weapon powered by the Magic Net to protect Theseus from Ares, while the gods pursued Theseus toward Athens and were stopped by the city's Aegis. As rumors of Theseus's mortal wounds spread, Andrea forced her way through the royal palace to reach him.

  • Hermes saw Aphrodite's divine power erupt near Eleusis, then activated the High Tower's research device as Theseus approached Athens under pursuit.
  • Ares attacked Theseus, but a beam fired from Athens pierced Ares's avatar and ended his Divine Descent.
  • Hera and Poseidon pursued Theseus to Athens, where Athena's Aegis Shield repelled Poseidon and blocked their way into the city.
  • Bells rang as rumors spread that Theseus was dying, prompting Athens's rulers to gather at the royal palace.
  • Andrea hurried to the palace, used the Seven-Ring Divine Art: Decree—Dread to knock down an Earl who tried to stop her, and entered the inner hall.
