The island was guarded by Mont-d'Or, the Charlotte Family's Minister of Cheese. He was BIG MOM's nineteenth son and a Book-Book Fruit user. His strength was nothing exceptional, ranking barely in the middle among BIG MOM's many children, but he had a quick mind and a talent for battlefield command, so he was highly valued.

At the moment, Mont-d'Or was on Whole Cake Island, fighting alongside his many brothers and sisters against the temporary alliance formed by the Straw Hat Pirates, the Vinsmoke Family, and the Fire Tank Pirates. He had no idea that the Cheese Island under his watch was currently under attack by the Whitebeard Pirates.
