Duke ultimately decided not to use himself as a Holy Relic. Who knew what kind of thing that would summon? What if it was his dead self? That... that would be truly awful.
Duke knew himself well. He knew that once his dead self was summoned, sending him back would be difficult. Just imagining some bastard like that existing in the world sent chills down his spine. One Duke per world was enough. Too many of them... and the world would go mad.
"Pah, pah, pah. How could I possibly die? Scourges live forever. I'm not dying!"
Just as Duke was considering whether to borrow a Holy Relic from the Tohsaka Family, Matou Kariya seemed to remember something. He huffed and puffed out of the Worm Storage, then huffed and puffed back in. He held a treasure box in his arms. Inside was a white metal gauntlet—a left-handed one, steeped in the weight of history.
"I don't know what Holy Relic Matou Zouken prepared, but if there really is one, it must be the Knight's Gauntlet inside this treasure box." With the worms gone from his body, Matou Kariya's complexion had visibly improved. His limbs had gone from half-crippled to merely inconvenient to use, though his stamina was still terrible. He panted like a dog after running a few steps.
"This is it—the famous Hand of NTR!" Duke snatched up the metal gauntlet and placed it on the altar. More precisely, it was a fingered vambrace, a piece of metal armor used to protect the wrist, back of the hand, and fingers.
"What hand did you just say...?" Matou Kariya had not caught what Duke said.
"Nothing. Just saying whatever."
