The mountain forest beneath the moon bared its fangs and claws, empty and tinged with the scent of blood!
Dark clouds drifted across the night sky at just the right moment, blocking out the moonlight and shrouding the land in darkness. Only a stubborn sliver of light pierced through the dense canopy, falling upon the dead branches and fallen leaves below, creating an eerie atmosphere that set one's heart pounding.
This stretch of forest belonged to the Einzbern Family. In fact, all the surrounding hills were Einzbern Family property. Of course, they had all changed their surname to Du now.
The forest was far from peaceful tonight. The howling wind was accompanied by the intermittent clash of weapons, and the air was filled with a chill.
The uninvited guest was Lancer, Cú Chulainn, one of the participants in this Holy Grail War. His enemies were a group of fleshless skeletons. These magically created skeletons were covered in a pale white glow, making them highly conspicuous in the darkness. Though numerous, they were merely a swarm of endlessly respawning living targets to a Lancer with excellent Agility. Before long, they had worn away all his interest.
In life, Cú Chulainn had been a great hero of Celtic Mythology. Half-man and half-god, he possessed formidable strength. Like Heracles, he had been one of the foremost figures in his own mythological system. If this Holy Grail War had taken place in Europe, his base parameters could have rivaled those of an all-A Servant.
Unfortunately, that was only an if. Just like the Lancer and Diarmuid from the Fifth War, he was destined to receive no boost from his fame.
