Mo Fan: Bastard, Take Your Filthy Hands Off Her
Magic City.
Magic Association Headquarters, Council Chamber.
"An Undead Forbidden Curse? How is that possible?" Lu Xin, a Councilor from the Lu Family, slammed his hand on the table. "China has an Undead Forbidden Curse? Heh, it's clearly just a baseless rumor, yet people actually believe it. What a joke!"
"The pack of magical wolves in the Southern Mountain Range outside Bo City was wiped out in one sweep. That is the evidence!" another, older Councilor retorted.
"Based on the information sent by the Bo City Military Department, there is a high probability that a Forbidden Curse was unleashed. Of course, it could also have been a Super-Order Mage with a special talent, so we cannot jump to conclusions yet."
Grand Speaker Shao Zheng dearly wanted to classify it as an Undead Forbidden Curse, but China had not produced an Undead Forbidden Curse in so many years that he found it difficult to be certain.
As soon as the Grand Speaker spoke, the Councilors below resumed their argument, each stubbornly clinging to their own opinion.
"Wouldn't we know whether he is a Forbidden Curse Mage if we found this Undead Mage?" Councilor Liu Fei paused before continuing, "Besides, once the Forbidden Curse Society learns of this, they will definitely send people to investigate. We can simply wait for their report."
"The Forbidden Curse Society!"
If this Undead Mage truly was a Forbidden Curse Mage, he certainly would not want the Forbidden Curse Society to find him. Otherwise, he would not have remained hidden until now.
"If he truly is an Undead Forbidden Curse, then it would be a blessing for China," Grand Speaker Shao Zheng said.
An Undead Forbidden Curse was far more important than Forbidden Curses of other elements, especially one who was a Forbidden Curse Mage capable of casting a Forbidden Curse alone.
An Undead Forbidden Curse could guard an entire city fortress by himself. Whether for humanity or for China, such a person was of utmost importance.
"According to the letter delivered by Zhan Kong, the commander of the Bo City Military Department, this disaster in Bo City was caused by the Black Vatican."
"The Black Vatican! They really are a bunch of cockroaches hiding in the dark." A hot-tempered Councilor slapped the table as he spoke.
After hearing the words "Black Vatican," the other Councilors merely frowned. None of them showed much reaction.
This was not their first time dealing with the Black Vatican. The Black Vatican was like a stone in a cesspit—no one wanted to touch it.
It would be one thing if they were alone, but most of them came from prominent clans and families. To some extent, they all had their reservations.
In the past, one great family had openly provoked the Black Vatican. In the end, the Black Vatican nearly wiped them out, and they ultimately declined into a minor family.
"Since the Black Vatican was responsible, this should be left to the Judgment Association," Councilor Lu Xin said with an air of indifference.
A trace of displeasure appeared on Speaker Shao Zheng's face. "Bo City is now waiting to be rebuilt from the ground up. I have decided to send two Super-Order Mages to assist them."
Since this Undead Forbidden Curse was willing to remain in Bo City, it showed that Bo City held no small place in his heart.
Perhaps doing this would leave a favorable impression on him.
Hearing the Speaker's decision, Lu Xin and the other Councilors exchanged looks. With cold snorts, they left the Meeting Room one after another.
The Grand Speaker's methods still aren't forceful enough, Liu Fei sighed inwardly.
Two days later, aboard the bullet train.
"Old Li, aren't you coming with us to the resettlement housing?"
Mo Fan had been about to turn around and speak to Li Xingze, only to see Li Xingze teasing Xin Xia the moment he looked back.
Where had that filthy hand gone?!
Bastard!
"Cough, cough!!" Hearing Mo Fan's voice, Li Xingze immediately restrained his movements somewhat. "The resettlement housing is too far away. I plan to find an apartment in the city center. It'll be much more convenient, whether I'm going to the Hunter's League or buying things."
When Xin Xia saw Mo Fan looking over, her little face instantly reddened like an apple. Like a little wild cat, she curled up in Li Xingze's arms.
Veins bulged on Mo Fan's forehead. If his father had not been right beside him, he truly wanted to throw a Thunder Seal straight into Li Xingze's face!
Damn it, take your filthy hands off her!
Mo Fan forcefully suppressed his anger and continued, "By the way, how come I never knew you had an uncle who's actually a High-level Magister?"
This was a High-level Magister—even in a major city, that was an extremely sought-after rank.
Li Xingze had long prepared an explanation for Mo Fan's question. "He's not my biological uncle, just a distant relative. I'm not very familiar with him."
"Then he didn't give you anything?"
"No."
Hearing that, Mo Fan immediately felt more at ease. They were both grassroots Mages; he did not want Li Xingze to suddenly transform into some rich young master.
"Oh, right, this Control Magic Tool Principal Zhu gave me." Li Xingze took the Control Magic Tool from his pocket. "I see you still can't even cast Intermediate Magic, so you can have this."
This Control Magic Tool had originally been shared property between him and Mo Fan. But now Li Xingze possessed hundreds of millions in assets. If he needed any magic tool, he could simply buy one at an auction.
Mo Fan, on the other hand, was rather poor. Other than Little Loach, which he would use until the very end, he could be said to have nothing at all.
Mo Fan did not stand on ceremony. He knew Li Xingze had some assets now, and a small magic tool was of little use to him.
After arriving in Magic City, Li Xingze took the initiative to say to Mo Jiaxing, "Uncle, why not let Xin Xia live with me? I can take good care of her."
"No!" Before Mo Jiaxing could speak, Mo Fan immediately stepped forward and repeatedly objected. "It's too dangerous for Xin Xia to live with you. I absolutely will not agree!"
Mo Jiaxing looked at Li Xingze and Mo Fan, instantly feeling caught between them. In truth, he felt that if Xin Xia stayed with Li Xingze, at least she would not have to suffer alongside them.
But Mo Fan had a point too. A lone man and woman living together—what if they ended up creating a life by accident?
Though the two weren't related by blood, he didn't object to them being together.
But!
Xin Xia was still underage. This was a bit too soon.
"Then how about this? Uncle, you and Xin Xia can come live with me in the city. As for Mo Fan, let him stay in the resettlement housing by himself," Li Xingze said.
"What?!" Mo Fan looked as though he'd been struck by a bolt from the blue, staring at Li Xingze in disbelief. "Old Li, do you have any conscience at all? You're really abandoning me by myself?"
Xin Xia would indeed be safe that way, but he'd be left alone in that rundown, shabby resettlement housing.
That was downright inhuman!
"Uncle, you won't need to drive for a living anymore. Just drink tea and play chess every day," Li Xingze said generously.
Hearing that, Mo Jiaxing immediately began to picture the life ahead, completely forgetting about his own son.
He'd done so much for this family. Once they got to Magic City, couldn't he finally enjoy himself a little?
In Mo Jiaxing's eyes, Li Xingze and Mo Fan were about the same. Since Li Xingze was willing to support him in his old age, he was happy beyond words.
Damn!
Mo Fan's eyes widened. Dad, you're defecting already?
"Forget it. Mo Fan, you can come along too. We happen to be short one servant to do the chores."
"..."
Mo Fan's face darkened. So he was just there to do odd jobs for them.
