Plague Kingdom.
Like Earth in the Solar System, Plague Kingdom was the most important planet in this starfield—the birthplace of the plague.
The development of living planets shared a series of common traits: an atmosphere, water, sunlight, suitable temperatures, and so on.
Aquatic microorganisms slowly evolved into amphibious and terrestrial life... At the same time, the microorganisms existing within the planet were naturally an indispensable component.
But during the evolution of life on this planet, those tiny microorganisms underwent an unprecedented "great revolution."
A little over eight thousand years ago, when the planet's cultural level had only just reached roughly that of the human Western Continent in the Middle Ages, a special mutated bacterium was born from the corpse of an endangered deer-beaked beast. It could spread through the air, and its extremely high reproductive ability and resistance allowed it to spread across the planet overnight.
Yet this infection had one advantage—its only advantage.
In other words, individual consciousness remained intact, and the nervous system functioned normally, allowing the infected to control their bodies as usual.
During the early stages of the infection, many people could not endure the pain of mutation and committed suicide in large numbers.
Only those with strong wills gradually accepted their new bodies.
Over time, the greatest church in history was born in Plague Kingdom: the Church of Life. Outside the kingdom, it was known as the "Plague God Cult."
The church called the plague "a gift from God," convincing everyone that infection and bodily mutation represented rebirth. It forcibly twisted the fixed thinking in the infected's minds, making them begin to accept their rotting bodies.
Thus, with the "Plague God Cult" at its center, the new Plague Kingdom slowly stabilized. Infected lifeforms lived on the planet in grotesque ways, and the infection even gradually
