Yu Jing pointed at the child beside him, who wore a burlap sack over his head with buttons in place of eyes, and asked:
"Bai Jingjing, you can't see him?"
Bai Jingjing glanced over, but saw nothing. She shook her head vigorously. "Master, don't scare me... I'm rather timid."
Bai Jingjing had once been the eldest daughter of the William family and a candidate to become its head. She had always presented herself as a strong, capable woman.
However, no matter how strong a woman appeared on the outside, there was always a fragile side within her that longed for someone to rely on.
When Bai Jingjing met Yu Jing during the competition, tasted defeat, and witnessed Yu Jing's charm while casting off her family's burdens at the same time, this fragile side was fully awakened.
Having just gone through the Red Umbrella Horror, Bai Jingjing walked along the pitch-black boulevard lined with trees. She had watched Yu Jing mutter to himself the entire way, and this had filled her with a deep sense of fear.
"You really can't see him? What hidden plot did you receive?" Yu Jing asked in return.
"Uncovering the Potential Institute's dark history."
"Nothing else?"
The system prompt Yu Jing had received contained one additional sentence: he was to uncover the secrets together with the child. Bai Jingjing, however, seemed to have to investigate and decipher everything on her own.
"Nothing... Could it be that the hidden plot you triggered, Master, is different from mine?"
"It's more or less the same. I just have one additional piece of information... But we're both movie participants, and we triggered the hidden plot under the same conditions. Why can't you see the child? Back in the town, you could clearly see the child wearing the head covering, right?"
