Rescue
It seemed to be coordinating with this outbreak. The engine section of the planet-destroyer lit up once more, apparently intending to seize this final opportunity to forcibly enter superluminal mode and make one last escape attempt.
There had already been several such attempts, but each had been forcibly interrupted by the Faceless One through nano-storms. This time was no exception. Having apparently realized that this was the enemy's final desperate struggle, the nano-storm was exceptionally powerful.
Like a torrent of living metal, it roared soundlessly through the vacuum. The silver cloud formed by billions upon billions of nanobots spread at the speed of light, devouring everything in its path. They clung to the abandoned wreckage of spaceships, and the metal hulls dissolved into fine dust the instant they came into contact, as though burned away by invisible flames.
They were more like the cleanser of the entire universe. Wherever they passed, everything was wiped perfectly clean.
This time, the nano-storm did not try to forcibly tear apart the mech tide. Instead, with the planet-destroyer at its core, it evolved into an invisible planet.
Just like the scene of the Insectoid Queen's birth.
The planet-destroyer fired three planet-destroying cannons in succession. Then, with a sharp crack, countless fissures split open around the muzzles.
Of those three blasts, one vanished without a trace, while another blasted out a satellite-scale depression. From that depression spewed countless spatial insect shadows, which swallowed the final planet-destroying cannon blast.
After devouring the cannon blast, the insect shadows immediately pounced toward the black cloud formed by the mech tide around the planet-destroyer, devouring it at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Gao Gong spat.
"Now that's what I call going all out."
The Insectoid Queen possessed many unfathomable abilities. One of them was extracting the
