The High Engineer looked up. The figure formed from starlight gradually became clear, revealing a strange species he had never seen before.
It was roughly humanoid in outline, but its details were utterly different from those of any carbon-based or common silicon-based life-form.
Its body seemed to be made of some kind of translucent crystal, with stardust slowly flowing within. Its texture was warm and smooth, yet carried a cold sense of detachment.
The stardust within was not chaotic. It revolved slowly like a miniature galactic vortex, following some profound pattern.
Its face had none of the usual organs, such as a mouth or nose. There was only a soft halo that constantly changed shape.
Within the halo, it was sometimes as tranquil as cosmic background radiation, and sometimes flashed with brilliance like a supernova explosion. This seemed to be its primary way of expressing emotions and communicating.
The High Engineer immediately used Probe.
A trace of an extremely faint smile seemed to pass across the halo-shaped face of "Star Vortex." It did not even make any significant movement. Its seemingly illusory palm, condensed from starlight, simply reached out and grabbed at the air.
The movement was casual, yet terrifyingly precise.
The probing fluctuation released by the High Engineer was actually "fished" out of the invisible flow of information as though it were a physical object. It condensed at Star Vortex's fingertips into a faint but clearly visible ball of light that struggled incessantly!
Star Vortex gently rolled the ball of light between its fingertips, as though toying with an interesting object. That calm mental message sounded again, now carrying an almost imperceptible hint of teasing:
"Heehee, old man, weren't you following the fusion route? How come you're studying information-type methods too?"
As Star Vortex kneaded it with its fingers,
