"So someone followed the trail and found us."
Inside a quantum computer room, Senior Engineer Gao watched the golden starship on the surveillance screen, along with the few Milta marked as extremely dangerous, and muttered to himself.
Lolita's electronic image appeared on the screen.
"Based on my calculations, there's a 1% chance that the cause was a leak of the smuggler list, and a 4% chance that it was a routine inspection by the Anti-Smuggling Bureau."
Senior Engineer Gao smiled and teased her:
"Can data from a level-three civilization really be calculated accurately by a planetary mainframe from a level-two civilization?"
"Unexpected factors are indeed increasing. For example, I couldn't have calculated the appearance of this device called a 'Carbon-Based Detector.' It's already beyond the scope of my data processing."
A Carbon-Based Detector, huh? Indeed—
Senior Engineer Gao stopped mocking her, because this thing was genuinely troublesome. It could be said that every mechanical civilization would scatter such devices throughout its civilized territory.
The troublesome part about these devices was that the more powerful a carbon-based life-form was, the more likely it was to be detected.
And once the number of these "Carbon-Based Detectors" reached tens or hundreds of millions, the decapitation plans targeting high-level carbon-based warriors would basically fail before they even began.
Fortunately, this thing probably hadn't entered mass production yet. If it had, even Senior Engineer Gao would most likely have been discovered.
Then he would have gotten to enjoy a few free planetary cannons!
"But what I'm curious about is, why didn't they discover you?"
Lolita's electronic image stared curiously at Senior Engineer Gao. She knew very well that he possessed an extremely powerful carbon-based body, one that could even isolate the power of the Mechanical Revolution to a certain extent.
Senior Engineer Gao smiled but
