Forest Troll General Dakara had just led a Forest Troll force through the Amani Crypt and arrived behind Pathfinder Camp.
The stone doors of every Amani Crypt were exceptionally well concealed, and this one was no different. Dense trees hid the area from view.
Because the exit of the Amani Crypt was too narrow, Dakara had the Forest Troll troops gather in a more open area. Once everyone had emerged from the crypt, they would launch their attack on Pathfinder Camp.
After eighty percent of the Forest Trolls had emerged and gathered in the clearing, a barrage of arrows suddenly shot out from the grass.
These Forest Trolls who had just emerged from the Amani Crypt were completely unprepared. As the ambushers themselves, they naturally had not expected to be ambushed.
The sharp arrows felled large numbers of Forest Trolls before they could react, and agonized wails rang out.
As the Forest Troll general, Dakara wore a full set of Amani Heritage Plate Armor, the Charge Set. The sturdy plate armor could block most arrows, but among the many arrows flying at Dakara, one surpassed all the rest in both speed and force. Concealed amid the barrage, it flew toward Dakara's vital point.
That arrow had been fired by King of Rangers Hoxbyr. As a Ranger Lord of the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas, King of Rangers Hoxbyr's carefully prepared shot was enough to pierce Dakara's sturdy plate armor and deliver a fatal blow.
Though Dakara was not well known, he was indeed the greatest rising star among the new generation of Forest Trolls. He had followed Zul'jin in the Old Horde's war against the Alliance, won countless victories, and witnessed many powerful warriors from both the Old Horde and the Alliance.
A gauntleted hand reached through the rain of arrows and caught the arrow fired by King of Rangers Hoxbyr.
"Despicable elves!" Without even looking, Dakara knew it had to be an ambush by High Elf Rangers. He clenched his hand around the arrow, snapping the enchanted shaft cleanly in two.
Dakara did not know why these High Elf Rangers had been waiting here to ambush them, but that no longer mattered. What mattered now was killing these ambushing High Elves, then completing Zul'jin's mission.
Producing a spear from somewhere, Dakara's powerful body launched it with all his might. The spear flew into the grass. "Get out of the shadows!"
Sure enough, a pained muffled groan from a High Elf Ranger came from the grass. The strike had clearly hit its mark.
"For Zul'jin, charge with me!" With one strike landing true, Dakara drew his weapon and charged straight into the grass.
Seeing Dakara's courage and strength, the Forest Trolls' morale, which had been crushed by the ambush, instantly soared. Even the lightly wounded pulled out their arrows and charged after Dakara.
Forest Trolls, as their name suggested, were a troll race that lived in the forests. Over tens of thousands of years, they had developed incomparable fighting prowess within the woods. Even Night Elves fighting in the forest might not be stronger than Forest Trolls.
Led by Dakara, a powerful commander who charged at the forefront, the Forest Trolls unleashed formidable strength. They rushed into the grass, searching for the High Elves who had ambushed them.
Though they looked bulky, the Forest Trolls moved through the dense forest with the agility of lynxes. Fierce battle erupted among the trees, and High Elves and Forest Trolls fell from time to time.
If King of Rangers Hoxbyr had known that Dakara possessed a rallying power comparable to Zul'jin's, he would have killed Dakara at once and left the Forest Trolls no chance to strike back.
But it was too late now. King of Rangers Hoxbyr made a decision, putting away the Phoenix Sun's Fury Longbow and drawing two longswords.
A beast-like instinct made Dakara halt as he was cutting down a High Elf Ranger. He raised his weapon to block an empty patch of air.
At that very moment, King of Rangers Hoxbyr appeared like a phantom, bringing both swords down fiercely from above.
"So it was you, elf, the one who ambushed my men!" Though he had not personally seen King of Rangers Hoxbyr fire the arrow, Dakara could still sense that the High Elf attacking him now was the one who had fired that deadly hidden shot.
His strike blocked, King of Rangers Hoxbyr leaped back to widen the distance, then assumed a fighting stance. His left-hand sword was held before him, his right-hand sword behind him, and his knees slightly bent.
The proud King of Rangers Hoxbyr did not continue attacking. Instead, he spoke as if passing judgment. "It is a pity that strike did not kill you. I am King of Rangers Hoxbyr. To die beneath my blades is your honor, troll."
"Heh, is that so? King of Rangers? Your arrows are far weaker than those of that High Elf called Alleria, your former Ranger-General. I am Dakara, general of the Forest Trolls. Your insignia will become part of my collection." Having fought in the war between the Old Horde and the Alliance, Dakara had naturally witnessed the terrifying strength of the former Ranger-General, Alleria Windrunner. That had been the closest Dakara had ever come to death.
King of Rangers Hoxbyr said no more and launched his attack. His left-hand sword slashed horizontally while his right-hand sword came down from above.
Every master who wielded two weapons possessed exquisite combat techniques, and King of Rangers Hoxbyr was no exception. His two longswords attacked Dakara in completely different ways, as though Dakara were facing two sword-wielding High Elves at once.
Facing King of Rangers Hoxbyr's attacks, Dakara was naturally not as nimble as King of Rangers Hoxbyr, so he could only block again and again.
A long defense was bound to fail. King of Rangers Hoxbyr seized an opening and slashed a wound across Dakara's right arm.
"I told you, troll. You will die by my hand." Having gained the upper hand with one strike, King of Rangers Hoxbyr had already decided that victory would be his.
Yet Dakara suddenly laughed, utterly unconcerned with the wound on his right arm. Gripping his weapon with both hands, Dakara's aura erupted in an instant. "Elf, you underestimate me. I have witnessed many powerful Orcs, and they have inspired me."
In the past, Dakara had believed Zul'jin to be the strongest Warrior. But after seeing the Old Horde's top Orc Warriors, he no longer thought so.
The powerful Orcs did not possess particularly refined techniques. What they excelled at was combining strength and rage, unleashing unparalleled explosive force to crush their enemies outright.
Forest Trolls were not as strong as Orcs, but High Elves were even weaker than humans.
Empowered by rage, Dakara's eyes turned blood-red, and his weapon launched a slash at a speed that left afterimages.
King of Rangers Hoxbyr's eyes widened in fury. Dakara seemed to have become an entirely different person. Faced with his overwhelming aura and attack, he could only defend, crossing his two longswords before his chest to block Dakara's blow.
