Ch. 366Retreat Crisis

As the Scourge’s offensives faltered across the Western Plaguelands, the Awakened forces defeated the defenders of Scholomance, prompting Kel'Thuzad to send Naxxramas after them. The allied raiders fought their way toward Keel'daron Island’s harbor, with their escape still at risk from the approaching Scourge forces.

  • Archmage Arugal tried to end his fight with Black Witch Farinna, but she refused to let him go and continued pursuing him.
  • The Awakened forces gained the upper hand at Andorhal and Scholomance, where Ganser killed Lich Rhaes Frostwhisper and Sinfer helped High Magister Astalo imprison Jandice Barov’s soul.
  • Astalo learned that Kel'Thuzad had discovered the attack and was bringing Naxxramas toward Scholomance, so he warned his allies to withdraw.
  • Prince Garrin, Lord Commander Fostad, and the allied forces fled Scholomance but found Scourge troops and air forces waiting on Keel'daron Island.
  • Fostad’s Gryphon Riders attacked the Scourge air forces as Garrin charged the Undead and Astalo ordered the Magisters to clear a path to the harbor.

Ch. 367Nightbane and Saphiron

As the allied forces tried to escape Keel'daron Island, Saphiron attacked them, but Saloren and Nightbane arrived to hold off the Frost Dragon and protect their retreat. Saloren stood alone against Kel'Thuzad's advancing Undead while Nightbane fought Saphiron in the sky.

  • Kel'Thuzad sent Saphiron to stop the allied forces from escaping Naxxramas, and the Frost Dragon overwhelmed the Wildhammer Dwarf Gryphon Riders.
  • Astalo ordered the Blood Elf Magisters to strike Saphiron with a combined fire spell, but Saphiron evaded it behind protective ice.
  • Saloren arrived with Nightbane, whose Curse Flame broke through Saphiron's ice and scorched him.
  • Nightbane and Saphiron clashed in the sky, while Saloren stood at Keel'daron Island's harbor to shield the allied forces' retreat.
  • Kel'Thuzad stayed hidden in Naxxramas and sent Undead against Saloren, who cut them down with Apocalypse until corpses piled beneath him.

Ch. 368Kidnapping Mr. Bigglesworth

Saloren’s forces escaped while Astalo’s explosives destroyed Scholomance and drew Kel’Thuzad away from Naxxramas. Valeera’s team infiltrated the floating city and Miendis captured Mr. Bigglesworth, leaving Kel’Thuzad roaring with rage as Valeera confronted Arthas through a magical image.

  • Saloren withdrew with Nightbane after the allied forces escaped from Keel'daron Island, and Astalo’s Arcane Bombs destroyed Scholomance.
  • Kel’Thuzad left Naxxramas to inspect Scholomance’s ruins and found a fragment of Dark Dean Gadin.
  • Valeera led Blood Elf rogues and Awakened Death Hunters into Naxxramas to capture Kel’Thuzad’s cat, Mr. Bigglesworth.

Ch. 369Final Battle in the Western Plaguelands

  • The Exodar warship’s Holy Light barrier blocked Naxxramas’s soul-energy attacks and Saphiron’s frost breath, while Kel'Thuzad failed to break it.
  • Prophet Velen confronted Kel'Thuzad, and Saloren prepared to help until Archbishop Alonsus urged him to trust Velen.
  • Saloren sent Nightbane to fight Saphiron, then drew Apocalypse and led the Twilight Death Knight Order into the Scourge’s army.
  • Dirty Hilghai’s plague incapacitated some Blood Elf Death Knights, but Saloren’s Apocalypse absorbed the spreading plague.

  • Prophet Velen revealed his suspicions about Arthas and overwhelmed Kel'Thuzad with Holy Light, killing him.
  • The Exodar warship bombarded Naxxramas until its damaged propulsion system failed and the city sank into Lake Keel'daron, flooding nearby land and threatening plague contamination of the water.
  • Taelan celebrated the allied forces' victory and called out to his father, Tirion, who was fighting the Scourge in the Eastern Plaguelands.
  • Sylvanas asked Saloren whether the battle was over, and Saloren said it was not as he looked north.

Ch. 372Demon Hunter in the Desert

Alex and Leotheras traded barbs after battling the Qiraji, while Ranger-General Rilas Windrunner explained that the allied forces needed to defeat the lords of Ahn'Qiraj before entering the temple. • Alex regretted not bringing Sinfer so they could use Aberrant Insect souls to summon demons against the insects.
  • Leotheras praised the battle, and Alex exchanged insults with him over their nicknames and rival forces.
  • The chapter described how Leotheras and Loramus had helped train Blood Elf and High Elf Demon Hunters, with Soul Song protecting them from demonic backlash.
  • Rilas Windrunner arrived and told Alex and Leotheras they should focus on fighting the Qiraji lords rather than arguing.
  • Rilas revealed that their next target was Moam, a construct believed to have been an Obsidian Destroyer, and vowed to gather their strongest forces against it.

Ch. 373Obsidian Destroyer

The Blood Elves discovered that Moam could absorb and reflect magic, then drained its stored energy and used further magical attacks to weaken its obsidian body. Rilas ordered the High Elf arcanists to keep attacking while Alex and Leotheras fought Moam at close range.

  • Ranger-General Rilas learned from Hoxbyr that the Night Elves knew little about Moam, and Archmage Modan volunteered the High Elf arcanists to attack it.
  • Modan and a hundred High Elf arcanists blasted Moam with Arcane Magic, but Moam absorbed the spell and reflected the energy, killing more than a dozen arcanists.
  • Moam also absorbed Rilas's Stars' Arrow, and High Priest Galeel explained that it stored energy rather than generating its own.
  • Alex and Leotheras used their abilities to drain Moam's stored energy, while the Blood Knights and Demon Hunters joined them with Mana Burn and Mana Drain.
  • Alex and Leotheras attacked Moam's obsidian body, and Rilas ordered Modan's arcanists to bombard it again until its energy remained too low to reflect the magic and its body began to grow brittle.

Ch. 374Aid for Fandral
