Ch. 102Defense of Quel'Thalas (11)

After the Magic Shield failed, Sun King Anasterian Sunstrider left Sylvanas and Biluo Hua to defend Silvermoon City while he returned to the Isle of Quel'Danas. Arthas used the Tri-Moon Key to break the city's shield and breach its gates, forcing Biluo Hua to order a retreat to the Isle of Quel'Danas.

  • Sun King Anasterian Sunstrider entrusted Silvermoon City's defenses to Sylvanas and Biluo Hua and went to investigate the Sunwell.
  • Arthas arrived with Veronaara and Salorian Sunseeker transformed into Scourge, then demanded that Silvermoon City surrender.
  • Biluo Hua rejected Arthas's demand and attacked him with an Arcane Barrage, while the Scourge began besieging the city.
  • Dath'Remar Sunstrider gave Arthas the Tri-Moon Key and revealed that he had assassinated most of the Silvermoon Council.
  • Arthas used the Tri-Moon Key to shatter Silvermoon City's Magic Shield, and the Scourge eventually breached the gates despite the High Elves killing more than three hundred thousand undead.
  • Biluo Hua ordered the High Elf armies to abandon Silvermoon City and gather on the Isle of Quel'Danas to join Sun King Anasterian Sunstrider's Sunfury Legion.

Ch. 103The Defense of Quel'Thalas (12)

After the High Elves retreated to the Isle of Quel'Danas, Archmage Biluo Hua discovered that the Sunwell had been bound and joined the effort to halt the Scourge. He and the Legion of Magisters heated the sea, stopping Arthas from extending Frostmourne’s frost path.

  • Archmage Biluo Hua and Ranger-General Sylvanas led the High Elf forces to the Isle of Quel'Danas, where Biluo Hua discovered he could no longer draw power from the Sunwell.
  • Ranger-General Sylvanas organized the island’s defenses while High Priestess Countess Liadrin reunited with High Priest Vanderol and confided her doubts to him.
  • Archmage Biluo Hua found magisters trying to break the Sunwell’s Arcane chains, and Sun King Anasterian Sunstrider told him that Silvermoon Council members had been assassinated and a traitor was among them.
  • Sun King Anasterian Sunstrider asked Biluo Hua to buy time by melting the Scourge’s frost path, while he remained at the Sunwell to break its binding magic.
  • Archmage Biluo Hua and the Legion of Magisters heated the sea as Arthas’s Scourge advanced, preventing him from extending the frost path.

Ch. 104Defense of Quel'Thalas (13)

Arthas charged the Isle of Quel'Danas to stop Archmage Biluo Hua from directing the High Elf defenses. Biluo Hua protected his people despite Arthas exploiting that weakness, and Frostmourne severed his right arm as he tried to escape.

  • Arthas learned that Archmage Biluo Hua was Belovar Sarrona and flew toward the Isle of Quel'Danas on Invincible while Luminas Sunstrider maintained the Path of Frost.
  • Arthas attacked Biluo Hua with Death Coil, but High Priest Vanderol and Liadrin purified the Death Energy from him.
  • Biluo Hua battered Arthas with powerful spells, while Arthas unleashed a Frost Storm against the High Elf warriors on the island's shore.
  • Arthas recognized Biluo Hua's concern for his people and used Death Grip, a frost attack, and Gale Force to create an opening.
  • Biluo Hua blocked Arthas's strike with three shields, but Frostmourne severed his right arm as he attempted to Blink away.

Ch. 105The Defense of Quel'Thalas (14)

Arthas and the Scourge overwhelmed Quel'Thalas's defenders, killing Vanderol and Biluo Hua before Anasterian arrived with the Sunfury Legion. Anasterian turned the battle around with Flaming Strike, then met Arthas in a clash of legendary weapons.

  • Arthas defeated Biluo Hua and extended the Path of Frost to bring the Scourge onto the Isle of Quel'Danas.
  • Vanderol rushed to Biluo Hua's aid but was killed by an Abomination, and Liadrin lost her faith in the Holy Light.
  • Biluo Hua teleported Liadrin to safety before the Scourge tore him apart, while the Silvermoon Council's nobles fought and died defending the Sunwell.
  • Anasterian arrived with the Sunfury Legion and used Flaming Strike to burn thousands of Scourge Undead, restoring the High Elves' morale.
  • Anasterian fought off the Scourge champions until Arthas intervened, and Frostmourne and Flaming Strike collided in a fierce battle.

Ch. 106The Defense of Quel'Thalas (15)

Tyrel learned that the defense of Quel'Thalas was failing and joined Lor'themar and Liadrin in the fight, but arrived in time to witness Arthas kill Anasterian. Grief and vengeance awakened Tyrel's power, leaving him restored Flaming Strike in hand and the Phoenix Banner raised as he faced Arthas.

  • Tyrel found Liadrin devastated, read Legends of the Quel'dorei, and declared that he would fight the Scourge alongside Lor'themar and Liadrin.
  • Anasterian's strength failed during his duel with Arthas; Frostmourne broke Flaming Strike and Arthas killed the Sun King.
  • Tyrel arrived at the battlefield, saw Anasterian die in his arms, and refused Arthas's offer to join the Scourge.
  • Tyrel's fury linked the miniature Sunwell in his soul to the Sunwell of the Eclipse Temple, bathing him in crimson Arcane and Holy Light energy.
  • Tyrel reforged Flaming Strike, took up the Phoenix Banner, and vowed to stop Arthas from destroying Quel'Thalas.

Ch. 107The Defense of Quel'Thalas (16)

Tyrel fought Arthas before the Sunwell as the High Elves rallied against the Scourge, but Dalkhan defiled the Sunwell to resurrect Kel'Thuzad. The chapter left Tyrel facing Arthas and the newly empowered Archlich without the Sunwell's support.

  • Tyrel's empowered Flaming Strike forced Arthas onto the defensive, while the High Elves rallied and held back the Scourge near the Sunwell.
  • Dath'Remar infiltrated Sunwell Plateau and killed the remaining defenders, but could not draw on the Sunwell's energy.
  • Dalkhan threw King Terenas Menethil II's urn containing Kel'Thuzad's remains into the Sunwell, resurrecting Kel'Thuzad as an Archlich.
  • Archlich Kel'Thuzad killed Dalkhan and teleported to Arthas, thanking him for his resurrection.
  • Arthas and Kel'Thuzad turned on Tyrel after the Sunwell was defiled and stopped supplying him with power.

Ch. 108The Polluted Sunwell

Kael'thas returned to Quel'Thalas with reinforcements, forcing Arthas and Kel'Thuzad to retreat after the Scourge polluted the Sunwell. As the Amani Trolls attacked, Kael'thas and Tyrel destroyed the corrupted Sunwell to save their people, and some of its essence flowed into Tyrel.

  • Kael'thas arrived with powerful High Elf allies and used a phoenix and Flame Storm to help Tyrel drive back Arthas and Kel'Thuzad.
  • Kel'Thuzad urged Arthas to retreat because the Sunwell had been polluted, and Arthas ordered the Scourge to hold off the High Elves while he escaped.
  • Kael'thas stopped Tyrel from pursuing Arthas, and Sylvanas took charge when Amani Trolls attacked the Isle of Quel'Danas.
  • Kael'thas and Tyrel reached the Eclipse Temple and destroyed its defenders, who had been resurrected as Undead.
  • Kael'thas and the High Magisters destroyed the polluted Sunwell to prevent its Death Energy from killing the High Elves.
  • The Sunwell's released essence scattered, with some captured by the magisters and some flowing into Tyrel.

Ch. 109The Darkest Age Descends

After the Sunwell’s destruction, Tyrel discovered a miniature Sunwell growing within his soul, offering the High Elves a small hope as Quel’Thalas faced invasion and grief. While Kael’thas led a counterattack against Zul’jin’s Forest Trolls, Tyrel remained on the Isle of Quel’Danas and heard Liadrin’s request to become a Paladin.

  • Tyrel’s miniature Sunwell began producing Arcane Energy, and Kael’thas and the High Magisters recognized the Sunwell’s essence within him.
  • Sylvanas destroyed the Amani Troll fleet attacking the Isle of Quel’Danas, while Zul’jin’s forces occupied much of Eversong Woods and advanced north.
  • Kael’thas led the Sunfury Legion against the Forest Trolls and left Tyrel to defend the Isle of Quel’Danas and oversee its wounded and remaining Scourge undead.
  • The returned Dawnblade Legion cleared undead from the island, while Liadrin led the priests in treating the wounded at Starfall Village.
  • Liadrin asked Tyrel to let her become a Paladin so she could protect her people, and Tyrel agreed to give her time to consider the change.
  • News of Anasterian’s death and Quel’Thalas’s devastation reached the sheltered civilians, leaving the High Elves grieving and uncertain about their future.

Ch. 110Quel'Danei of the Hinterlands

Hadrun Mingyi escorted tens of thousands of High Elf children from Quel'Thalas into the Hinterlands, where Shadowbranch Trolls attacked them. Rilas Windrunner and the Silver Covenant, aided by Wildhammer Gryphon Riders, got them safely to Quel'Danei, though the children still needed to move on to Aerie Peak.

  • Hadrun Mingyi's rangers protected the High Elf children's magic warships from Scourge Gargoyles as they reached the Hinterlands.
  • Shadowbranch Trolls discovered the refugees and pursued them, forcing Hadrun to send Galeel ahead with the children toward Aerie Peak.
  • Rilas Windrunner and ten thousand Silver Covenant rangers arrived, and Wildhammer Dwarf Gryphon Riders helped drive back the trolls.
  • Hadrun told Rilas he would explain what had happened to Quel'Thalas once they reached safety.
  • The High Elf children arrived safely at Quel'Danei, where more than one hundred thousand High Elves and half-elves had gathered.
  • Quel'Danei could not house everyone, so the children still needed to be sent to Aerie Peak for shelter and care.

Ch. 111Sin'dorei: Children of Blood

Rilas Windrunner learned that the Scourge had invaded Quel'Thalas and set out to return, while the survivors mourned Anasterian and Kael'thas declared them the Sin'dorei. The Blood Elves began reclaiming ruined Silvermoon City, where Tyrel and the Dawnblade Legion fought the remaining undead.

  • Hadronox told Rilas Windrunner that the Scourge had attacked Quel'Thalas and Silvermoon City, so Rilas decided to return with him and left Saldor Shallowstream in charge of Quel'Danei and the Silver Covenant.
  • The High Elves mourned Anasterian Sunstrider as his sons Kael'thas and Tyrel stood beside his body, while survivors grieved for the fallen and the slaughtered.
  • After Anasterian's burial, Kael'thas declared that the High Elves would henceforth be called the Sin'dorei, and the Blood Elves answered with a cry for Quel'Thalas.
  • Kael'thas and Tyrel led the campaign to retake Silvermoon City after Arthas and the main Scourge force had left Quel'Thalas.
  • Kaelen Sunfury wondered whether the Dawnblade Legion's earlier return could have prevented the city's fall, but Tyrel focused on reclaiming it as the Legion unleashed Solar Holy Light against the undead.

Ch. 112Cleaning Up Silvermoon City

Tyrel and Arkanimus began clearing Silvermoon City, repairing or shutting down the out-of-control Arcane Guardians so the Blood Elf forces could fight the Scourge more safely. Tyrel rescued a young girl named Treyanis and carried her as the forces continued clearing the city.

  • Arkanimus offered to repair the Arcane Guardians and, after Tyrel summoned it, used its golden Arcane Energy to restore many of them and shut down the ones it could not repair.
  • With the Arcane Guardians helping, the Dawnblade Legion fought the Scourge while clearing Silvermoon City's western district.
  • Tyrel found a frightened little girl hiding in a manor and promised to protect her.
  • The girl introduced herself as Treyanis, and Tyrel comforted her and carried her while she fell asleep.
  • Prince Kael'thas asked Tyrel about Treyanis, and Tyrel explained that her parents were most likely gone.

Ch. 113The Era of Quel'Thalas's Two Kings

Tyrel, Prince Kael'thas, and the Blood Elf Magisters rebuilt much of Silvermoon City using the miniature Sunwell's Arcane Energy. With Quel'Thalas seeking new leadership, Kael'thas and Tyrel accepted the titles of Phoenix King and Dawn King, beginning an era of two kings.

  • Tyrel supplied Arcane Energy from the miniature Sunwell as Rommath, Astalor Bloodsworn, Tesseron Bloodwatcher, and the Blood Elf Magisters rebuilt Silvermoon City's eastern district.
  • The Blood Elves on the Isle of Quel'Danas cheered as the restored Sunfury Legion flew above the city.
  • Astalor Bloodsworn and Rommath entrusted the three corrupted Moon Crystals to Prince Kael'thas, who made them orbit him.
  • Sylvanas Windrunner asked Prince Kael'thas to become Sun King, and Tyrel supported her request.
  • Prince Kael'thas declined to inherit the Sun King title until he had resolved Mana Addiction, purified Quel'Thalas, and avenged the Blood Elves against the Scourge.
  • Kael'thas and Tyrel agreed to rule as Phoenix King and Dawn King, respectively.

Ch. 114Reforging Flaming Strike

Tyrel sought to reforge Flaming Strike, and Solidar Starfall said the sword needed an additional source of power to withstand Frostmourne. Tyrel and the Blood Elves purified the Shadow Crystal into a Holy Light Crystal, and Solidar began reforging the sword with help from Kael'thas and Phoenix God Ao.

  • Tyrel asked Solidar Starfall to reforge Flaming Strike, and Solidar agreed to use the royal Arcane Forge but warned that the sword needed more power.
  • Tyrel brought out the Shadow Crystal, and Solidar said its energy was too difficult to control unless it could be infused with Holy Light.
  • Tyrel summoned Tirion Fordring, Liadrin, the Dawnblade Legion Paladins, and elite Blood Elf priests to test whether Holy Light could purify the Shadow Crystal.
  • Liadrin infused the Shadow Crystal with Holy Light, and more than a hundred Holy Light users transformed it into a powerful blue Holy Light Crystal.
  • Tyrel handed the crystal to Solidar, who began reforging Flaming Strike in the Arcane Forge.
  • Kael'thas added Sunwell essence and called Phoenix God Ao to infuse the sword with Immortal Flame while Solidar fused its broken sections and embedded the Holy Light Crystal.

Ch. 115A New Voyage

Tyrel prepared to sail to Kalimdor to protect the Well of Eternity and seek a cure for the Blood Elves’ Mana Addiction. The Dawnblade Legion departed Quel’Thalas with Lirath and other allies, while Kael’thas stayed behind to lead their people.

  • Kael’thas and Tyrel rallied the Blood Elves of Silvermoon City, who celebrated the city’s rebuilding and Flaming Strike’s reforging and vowed revenge on the Scourge.
  • Tyrel told Kael’thas he had to travel to Kalimdor to protect the Well of Eternity from the prophesied Supreme Demon Lord and seek a cure for Mana Addiction.
  • Kael’thas offered to accompany Tyrel, but Tyrel refused because Quel’Thalas still needed its king; Kael’thas accepted the need to stay behind.
  • The Blood Elves donated supplies to the Dawnblade Legion, while Tyrel declined their requests to join his dangerous expedition.
  • Lirath rejoined Tyrel, and he, Kaelen Sunfury, Mylah Dawncaller, Astalo Bloodsworn, and Tesseron Bloodwatcher sailed west aboard the Dawnblade.
  • As the fleet left Quel’Thalas, Tyrel wondered where Valeera was.

Ch. 116Blue Dragonflight

Tyrel diverted the Blood Elf fleet through Northrend and sought the Blue Dragonflight’s help after recounting Medivh’s prophecy and the Sunwell’s destruction. Azuregos agreed to take him to the Nexus to meet Malygos.

  • Rilas questioned why Tyrel had brought them to Northrend, and Cain explained that Tyrel and the Dawnblade Legion had fought the Scourge there while Rilas was away.
  • Tyrel gathered five thousand Paladins from Dawnblade Port and sailed west, leaving Blood Elves from the Holy Relic Association behind.
  • Tyrel stopped at Mok'Nathal Port, declined Elder Koonani’s invitation, and traveled to the Azure Dragon Sanctuary to seek the Blue Dragonflight’s aid against the Supreme Demon Hunter.
  • Azuregos and two other Blue Dragons met Tyrel, who identified himself as Dawn King of Quel'Thalas and asked to speak with Malygos.
  • Tyrel told Azuregos about Medivh’s prophecy and the Scourge’s destruction of the Sunwell, and Azuregos agreed to take him to the Nexus to meet the Lawbinder.

Ch. 117Malygos the Spellweaver

Tyrel traveled to the Nexus and met Malygos, who agreed to send Blue Dragonflight warriors to help against the Burning Legion but could not join the fight himself. Tyrel returned to the Sun Temple, where he introduced his dragon allies before the Magic Fleet resumed its voyage to Kalimdor.

  • Kalecgos carried Tyrel toward the Nexus, and Tyrel learned that Saphiron guarded the entrance to Azjol-Nerub with other blue dragons.
  • Tarecgosa explained that Malygos was often delirious because of Deathwing’s betrayal, but Azuregos later reported that Malygos would receive Tyrel.
  • Tyrel met Malygos in the Eye of Eternity, and Malygos said he could not fight Archimonde or secure aid from the other Dragon Aspects, but would send Azuregos and other blue dragons to help.
  • Azuregos, Kalecgos, and Tarecgosa accompanied Tyrel back to the Sun Temple, where the Dawnblade Legion had completed its reconstruction.
  • Tyrel introduced the three blue dragons to the Dawnblade Legion, and the Magic Fleet set sail west toward Kalimdor.

Ch. 118Winterspring Valley

Tyrel brought the Blood Elf Magic Fleet to Winterspring Valley, where the Dawnblade Legion established itself in Everlook and earned the Goblins’ hospitality with gold. After sampling Winterspring Firewine, Tyrel learned that the Winterspring Bearmen brewed it to boost drinkers’ strength with few side effects.

  • Azuregos guided the Blood Elf Magic Fleet to Winterspring Valley, and the Dawnblade Magisters teleported two thousand soldiers there while Rilas stayed aboard the Dawnblade.
  • Azuregos told Tyrel that they needed to visit Methrendil, so Tyrel led the Dawnblade Legion to seek a campsite instead.
  • Tyrel brought gold to Everlook, and the Goblins welcomed the Blood Elves as honored guests at the Laughing Snowman Inn.
  • Tyrel sampled Winterspring Firewine and felt it increase his strength despite its painful, poisonous sensation.
  • Vizzik told Tyrel that the Winterspring Bearmen made the authentic Winterspring Firewine and brewed it in large quantities.

Ch. 119Kael'thil

Tyrel learned how to obtain Winterspring Firewine and discovered that the Kael'thil Ruins held the legendary Sin'dorei Crystal. At the ruins, his group freed the cursed High Elf ghosts and learned the crystal had shattered and caused the curse.

  • Tyrel paid Diz Stoneblast for the source of Winterspring Firewine and a detailed map of Winterspring Valley, then promised to buy all the wine he could obtain at three times its selling price.
  • Tyrel found the Kael'thil Ruins on the map and learned from Astalor Bloodsworn and Tesseran Bloodwatcher that the ruins were connected to a legend about the Sin'dorei Crystal.
  • Tyrel led his group to Kael'thil, where they discovered that the High Elves marked on the map were cursed ghosts.
  • The Dawnblade Legion used Turn Evil and Redemption to purify the ghosts and grant them peace.
  • The freed ghosts told Tyrel that Kael'thil's High Elves had stolen the Sin'dorei Crystal from the Sin'dorei Temple, but it shattered when they could not control it and cursed them and the High Elves who arrived a hundred years ago.

Ch. 120Sin'dorei Crystal

Tyrel and the Dawnblade Legion restored the Sin'dorei Crystal after learning how its curse had killed Mai'lius and his people. With the crystal's dangers understood and Tyrel able to withstand its drain, the Blood Elves established Kael'thil as their camp and brought in the full Dawnblade Legion.

  • Tyrel and the magisters subdued Mai'lius, and Tyrel cleansed the ghost so he could explain how the Sin'dorei Crystal fragment had cursed and killed his people.
  • Mai'lius warned Tyrel not to control the crystal before repairing it, revealed where its fragments lay, and then peacefully dispersed.
  • Tesseron used Arkanimus to repair the fragments, restoring the Sin'dorei Crystal and revealing that it consumed its user's mana and life force.
  • Arkanimus explained that Tyrel could use the crystal because the miniature Sunwell within him continually produced Arcane Energy and life force.
  • Tyrel chose Kael'thil as the Blood Elves' camp and ordered Astalo to set up Portal Orbs.
  • Thirty thousand members of the Dawnblade Legion arrived at Kael'thil through the Portal Orbs.

Ch. 121Burning Legion Landing

The Blue Dragonflight discovered that the Burning Legion had landed on the coast of Azshara and warned the Blood Elves of the Dawnblade Legion. Tyrel considered how to contact the Night Elf leaders and join forces against the invasion.

  • Halreen and the Blue Dragons watched Kael'thas being rebuilt and then saw the Burning Legion and Scourge fighting the Naga on Azshara's coast.
  • Halreen ordered Azuregos to seek aid from Anachronos, Tarecgosa to warn the Night Elves, and Kalecgos to alert the Blood Elves.
  • Kalecgos told Tyrel and the Dawnblade Legion that the Burning Legion had landed in Azshara, and Tyrel thanked Azuregos for saving the Magic Fleet from landing there.
  • Tyrel decided they needed to contact Arch-Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind or Arch-Druid Malfurion Stormrage to warn the Night Elves and clear up the misunderstanding between their forces.
