Ch. 122Woodfang Fortress

Tyrel and Lirath traveled to Woodfang Fortress to reach Moonglade and find Malfurion Stormrage, but the Bearmen refused to let them pass. Tyrel’s forces defeated the Bearmen without killing them, leaving Sarfa ready to speak.

  • Tyrel learned that Malfurion Stormrage was sleeping in Moonglade and set out with Lirath while Cain stayed with Kael'thas.
  • Tyrel and Lirath reached Woodfang Fortress, where Sarfa refused passage because he distrusted the Blood Elves and blamed their magic for the Burning Legion’s arrival.
  • Tyrel warned Sarfa that the Burning Legion had landed in Azshara, but Sarfa mocked his oath and the Sin'dorei faith in the sun.
  • Tyrel ordered his forces to teach the Bearmen a lesson without killing them, and Lirath struck the first Bearman with an arrow.
  • Tyrel used his shield and Consecration while the Blood Elf Paladins attacked, defeating the Bearmen and asking Sarfa to speak properly.

Ch. 123Moonglade

Tyrel earned the Woodfang Bearmen’s friendship by curing their shaman, then led the Blood Elves into Moonglade to fight demons and Undead. While Tyrel held the enemy back, Rilas went to find Malfurion and encountered hostile Night Elf sentinels.

  • Tyrel cleansed the Woodfang Bearmen shaman’s fel-tainted poison and restored him, earning the bear-men’s friendship and an amulet.
  • Sarfa guided Tyrel and the Blood Elves through Woodfang Fortress to Moonglade, where they discovered demons and Undead advancing through the sacred forest.
  • Tyrel used his reforged Flaming Strike to burn through hundreds of demons and Undead, then sent Rilas and the rangers to find Malfurion Stormrage.
  • Rilas led the rangers toward Stormrage Lair and encountered Night Elf sentinels, whose leader fired an arrow at him.
  • Rilas intercepted the arrow and called out in Ancient Elvish that he was not the Night Elves’ enemy.

Ch. 124The Awakened Arch-Druid

Rilas found Arch-Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind and explained that the Blood Elves had come to protect and awaken Arch-Druid Malfurion Stormrage. After Tyrel fought off Tichondrius and devastated western Moonglade with Flaming Strike, the Night Elves and Blood Elves agreed to unite against the Burning Legion.

  • Rilas introduced himself to Arch-Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind and said he had come on Tyrel Sunstrider’s orders to protect and awaken Malfurion Stormrage.
  • Tyrel held off the Undead and demons in western Moonglade until Tichondrius arrived and overpowered him.
  • Tyrel warned the Dawnblade Paladins to use Divine Shield, then unleashed Flaming Strike’s full power and reduced the battlefield to a vast lava pool as Tichondrius escaped.
  • Malfurion awakened and joined Tyrande, Rilas, and the other elves at the lava pool, where Tyrel explained what had happened.
  • Tyrande recognized Tyrel as Dath'Remar Sunstrider’s descendant and persuaded Malfurion to accept the Blood Elves’ goodwill.
  • Malfurion and the druids used Moonwell water to begin dissipating the lava, while the Night Elves and Blood Elves joined forces against the Burning Legion.

Ch. 125Ancient Legend

Tyrel traveled with Tyrande and Malfurion through Winterspring Valley, where Tyrande's sentinels killed a corrupted furbolg clan. At a fork in the road, Tyrel left to summon his Dawnblade Legion, while he and Rilas wondered whether they might encounter other heroes from the War of the Ancients.

  • Tyrande sympathized with Tyrel over Quel'Thalas's losses, while Malfurion avoided answering his request to use the Well of Eternity and instead urged him to consider the druidic path.
  • Malfurion privately hoped to introduce druidism to the Blood Elves through Tyrel, whom he considered unusually receptive.
  • Tyrande recognized corrupted furbolgs from Ashenvale, then led the sentinels in killing the attacking clan of several thousand.
  • Tyrande rebuked Malfurion for sleeping while she and the sentinels had borne the burden of protecting the land.
  • At a fork in Winterspring Valley, Tyrel left with Rilas for Kael'thas to summon the Dawnblade Legion, and Rilas wondered whether Illidan Stormrage and Garrith Shadowsong were still alive.

Ch. 126Moon Temple of Mount Hyjal

Tyrel led the Dawnblade Legion to rescue the Moon Temple at Mount Hyjal while Tyrande and Malfurion went to awaken the Claw Druids. Drasia Moonfang joined the temple’s desperate defense and was saved from a Wrathguard by a golden-haired elf in gold-and-red armor.

  • Tyrande asked Tyrel to rescue the Moon Temple while she and Malfurion went to awaken the Claw Druids, and Tyrel agreed to lead the Dawnblade Legion.
  • Drasia Moonfang led three hundred Moon Priestesses and one thousand Sentinels against a vastly larger demon and Undead force.
  • After her prayers received no answer, Drasia picked up a moonblade and joined the battle, cutting down ordinary Undead with her weapon and Smite.
  • A Wrathguard disarmed Drasia and prepared to kill her as she closed her eyes and awaited death.
  • A golden-haired elf in gold-and-red plate armor appeared before Drasia, and the demons and Undead vanished.

Ch. 127The Moon Priestess Who Yearned for the Sun

Tyrel and the Dawnblade Legion saved Mount Hyjal Moon Temple from demons and Undead, and High Priestess Drasia Moonfang became captivated by Solar Holy Light and Tyrel. The Night Elves evacuated under Blood Elf escort, but Drasia could not say where Garrith Shadowsong had gone, leaving Tyrel without the ancient hero he hoped would lead the allied forces.

  • Tyrel and the Dawnblade Legion wiped out the demons and Undead attacking Mount Hyjal Moon Temple and helped heal the surviving Night Elves.
  • Drasia Moonfang touched Tyrel's Solar Holy Light, felt drawn to its power, and became entranced by his golden eyes.
  • Tyrel explained that Solar Holy Light came from sun worship combined with the path of human Paladins and was especially effective against evil beings.
  • The Moon Priests evacuated the injured Night Elves under the Dawnblade Legion's escort because the Burning Legion's advance threatened the temple.
  • Tyrel asked Drasia where Garrith Shadowsong was, but she said he had disappeared thousands of years earlier and no one had found any clues.

Ch. 128Betrayers and Pioneers

Tyrel Sunstrider and the Dawnblade Legion joined Illidan Stormrage and the Night Elf Sentinels to defend the forests west of Mount Hyjal from the Burning Legion. As Illidan confronted his painful history with Malfurion, Arthas appeared and clashed with Tyrel.

  • Arch-Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind assigned Illidan to recruit Sentinels and druids to fight the demons corrupting the forests west of Hyjal, and Tyrel offered the Dawnblade Legion's support.
  • Tyrande sent twenty thousand Night Elf Sentinels under Illidan's command, and Drath Moonfang joined the force to stay near Tyrel.
  • The Blood Elves and Sentinels built a camp in the forest while fighting Burning Legion demons, Undead, and corrupted furbolgs.
  • Illidan asked Tyrel about Kael'thas Sunstrider, then lamented that Malfurion still considered him a criminal and vowed to prove his power.
  • Arthas appeared on a nearby peak and challenged Illidan's control over his will, then Tyrel attacked Arthas and their runeblades met again.

Ch. 129The Proud and Aloof Illidan

Arthas revealed that the Skull of Gul'dan could help defeat the Burning Legion and persuaded Illidan to seek its power. Tyrel stayed behind to defend the camp while Illidan and Cain led a small force toward the Skull.

  • Tyrel fought Arthas with the reforged Flaming Strike, and Arthas forced him back before explaining that Tichondrius and the Skull of Gul'dan were their common enemy.
  • Arthas urged Illidan to claim the Skull's power, and Illidan decided to pursue it despite Tyrel and Cain warning him of the danger.
  • Tyrel agreed to hold the camp and resist the Burning Legion's forces while Illidan went after the Skull.
  • Cain joined Illidan's group, which included Illysanna and other Night Elf Demon Hunters, while Tyrel took command of the Dawnblade Legion and Sentinel Corps.
  • Drelas Moonfang pledged to help Tyrel fight the Burning Legion.

Ch. 130The Source of Corruption Vanished

The elven forces drove back the Burning Legion’s attack as Drasia Moonfang learned about Quel'Thalas and began questioning Night Elf society. After the forest’s corruption vanished, Tyrel warned that Illidan was facing Tichondrius alone, and Tyrande and Malfurion prepared to help him.

  • Mylah Dawncaller explained the Solar Holy Light and described Quel'Thalas to Drasia Moonfang, who resolved to leave the forest and see the wider world if they won the battle.
  • Night Elf reinforcements, including Druids in Bear Form, Mountain Giants, and Hippogryph Riders, joined the fight and helped rout the Burning Legion’s forces.
  • Tyrande noticed Illidan was missing, and Tyrel explained that he had gone to find the Skull of Gul'dan.
  • Malfurion sensed the forest’s corruption receding, confirming that the Skull of Gul'dan was gone.
  • Tyrel said Illidan had likely gone to fight Tichondrius alone, so Tyrande and Malfurion agreed to help him.

Ch. 131Brothers Divided

Illidan killed Tichondrius but was transformed almost entirely into a demon, leading Malfurion to banish him despite Illidan remaining in control. Illidan departed with the Night Elf Demon Hunters, while Cain stayed with Tyrel, who disagreed with Malfurion’s decision.

  • Illidan killed Tichondrius as Tyrel, Tyrande, and Malfurion reached the center of the demon camp.
  • Malfurion and Tyrande recoiled at Illidan’s demonic transformation, but Illidan said he was still himself and had completed Tyrande’s task.
  • Malfurion banished Illidan, accusing him of choosing power and blaming him for recreating the Well of Eternity.
  • Illidan invited Cain to join him, but Cain refused and chose to remain with Tyrel.
  • Illidan left with Illysanna and the Night Elf Demon Hunters, while Tyrel questioned Malfurion’s distrust of his brother.

Ch. 132An Epic Meeting

  • Malfurion exiled Illidan despite Tyrande’s plea, while Illidan continued fighting the Burning Legion with his Demon Hunters.
  • Astalor told Tyrel that the Night Elves would never lend the Blood Elves the Well of Eternity’s power, and Tyrel prioritized stopping Archimonde.
  • Rilas reported that Orcs and humans were fighting the Night Elves, and Tyrel recognized that they had answered Medivh’s call to Kalimdor.
  • Tyrel, Rilas, and Kaelen asked Shandris to stop attacking the newcomers, but she refused because the Orcs had killed Cenarius.
  • Tyrel met Thrall, Jaina, and Medivh beneath a waterfall at Mount Hyjal and declared that the Sin'dorei would help defend Azeroth.
  • The Blood Elves, Orcs, Night Elves, and humans set aside their grudges and united against the Burning Legion.

Ch. 133High Elves Among the Lordaeron Exiles

Tyrel reunited with Jaina in Kalimdor and told her of Arthas’s fate and the destruction of Lordaeron and Quel'Thalas. He then rallied the High Elves serving with the Lordaeron Exiles, who embraced their identity as Blood Elves and vowed revenge.

  • Tyrel met Jaina at Keslier, where she asked whether Arthas had come to Kalimdor.

  • Rakeesh Winterchill drained the life force of hundreds of human Warriors and fired Ice Bolts, but Astalor Bloodsworn melted them and confronted his former friend.
  • Rakeesh explained why he had become a lich, then battled Astalor until Tesseron Bloodwatcher joined him and their combined flames suppressed Rakeesh's frost magic.
  • Infernal meteors, summoned Infernals, and Carrion Swarms struck the Kalimdor Allied Forces, spreading a virulent plague among the defenders.

  • Tyrel arrived and blocked Kazak’s strike with Flaming Strike, identifying himself as Anasterian Sunstrider’s descendant and Kazak as the wielder of the Dragon King’s Blade.
  • Jaina recovered and used Frost Nova to help Tyrel, but the two could not overcome Kazak’s strength.
  • Kazak summoned his adjutants Kur'tul and Lathre'k along with a powerful Burning Legion army, shifting the battle against the Kalimdor Allied Forces.
