Squads of glabrezu marched out of the portal.
Unlike the demons elsewhere in the Abyss, the Demon Legion emerging from the portal showed a little more discipline, rather than the usual chaotic rabble. They were all equipped with fine weapons. Though these could not compare with those of the Devil Legion's elite, they mostly qualified as magic weapons. Since demons' skin naturally had high resistance, most wore no armor or only partial armor. Veins bulged across the muscles of their bare chests, radiating strength no mortal could match. Behind the glabrezu came a squad of six-armed mariliths. These terrifying warriors ranked among the finest melee fighters in the entire Abyss, and any one of them could take on a small army alone.
The balors, being relatively intelligent demons, commanded these legions, splitting them into three forces that advanced ahead.
Almost all the demons deployed this time were mid-to-high-tier. Inferior demonic cannon fodder was not worth transporting to a battlefield on another plane. The last to emerge from the portal was a squad of hezrou, with seven or eight fire demons among them. Then the Demon Lord Soran appeared behind them.
This was the Demon Legion from Gurumba Arena.
Soran was not yet powerful enough to compete with the Archdukes of Hell for souls, so this undead-controlled demiplane had become a target for his pillaging.
There was a rule in the Lower Planes: ever since the River Styx had begun flowing through the multiverse, the lords of the Lower Planes had loved nothing more than stealing souls from it. Attendants of the God of Death and planar allies could only ensure that the souls of relatively devout believers reached their destinations. Most souls with loose religious affiliations drifted along the River Styx until the Attendants of the God of Death finally
