Instead, he decisively left with his allies to avoid any further complications.

Openly antagonizing such a powerful, terrifying enemy would put a newly ascended deity like Soren, whose foundations were still shallow, in an extremely vulnerable position. Had Soren been a god for even a few hundred years, he would never have backed down today. But he had not been a god for that long, and even his Church had only recently been established. Under these circumstances, openly declaring war on the Lady of Night would mean following Cyric's old path. Who knew how many deities were waiting for Soren to expose a weakness?
