Why were there so many of Soren's worshippers transformed into combat-type heroic spirits?
The reason was simple.
Many of them had been soldiers of Port Nyanzaru in life. Similarly, after being transformed into attendants of the God of Death, these petitioners could form an army without needing much training.
Nowadays, every entrance to the Netherworld was guarded by attendants of the God of Death. Let alone those soul thieves from the Lower Planes, even the Styx Memory Thieves from Baator had been driven out. Styx Memory Thieves were memory stealers and mind caretakers. The vast majority of them built their nests along the banks of the River Styx.
