This unusual material had been mentioned briefly before: it was tiny in size but astonishingly heavy.

It was a product of Elemental Annihilation!

Elemental Annihilation and Elemental Fission were the Arcane Empire's most advanced alchemical technologies. The former annihilated elements to create unusual materials, while the latter generated the immense energy needed to keep Floating Cities running. Within the Multiverse, there were theories of the "infinitely large" and the "infinitely small." The infinitely large referred to the vastness of the Multiverse. Across the boundless Astral Void lay countless spaces unknown even to Deities. Beyond the boundaries of the Crystal Sphere Systems, too, were mysteries they could not fathom.

That was why even Deities looked up at the brilliant, endless sea of stars with awe!

The theory of the infinitely small was harder to explain through Alchemy. The simplest way was to draw on the scientific knowledge of Soran's previous life: planets, human bodies, cells, molecules, atoms, protons, electrons, neutrons, and so on. Anyone who had studied the subject knew that all things contained enormous gaps. Those gaps might be minuscule to humans, barely visible even through a microscope, but they did exist. (Note: a Legendary Warrior's body underwent changes at the cellular level!)

Elemental Annihilation was a terrifying reaction of elemental collapse. Energy compressed the tiny elemental particles within matter—particles akin to molecules, atoms, and protons—until they collapsed. The resulting violent annihilation produced materials that were extremely small yet extraordinarily hard and heavy. Forged into weapons, such materials were nearly unstoppable. Several had appeared throughout history, and almost all possessed terrifying penetrating power.

Not even a Deity's body could necessarily withstand one!
