The Hunt and Slaughter

A clash of races.

The portfolio of any race came with enormous restrictions. Soren, for instance, could absorb and merge with the Half-Elf portfolio only because he was a Half-Elf himself. The Lycanthrope portfolio, on the other hand, was almost completely incompatible with him. So even though Soren had killed Malar, the God of Hunt, Lady of Silver Moon's avatar had taken it with ease. She also possessed the Lycanthrope portfolio, and her affinity with it was probably the highest of any deity.

Lady of Silver Moon—Selune!

Soren watched her in silence, his expression grave and edged with hostility.

Faced with Soren's hostility, Lady of Silver Moon looked wary too. But she had not descended in person. Only her avatar had appeared to claim the divine rank, so the confrontation had not escalated into a fight. To a deity, an avatar was only a fraction of their power; losing one would not deal them a devastating blow. Still, the consequences of war would be severe for both sides. With the Time of Troubles underway, far too many others were watching for an opening.

By Alignment alone, they stood on opposite sides.

But Soren had always known how to restrain himself. He watched Lady of Moon and said slowly, "Lady of Silver Moon, it seems you owe me quite a favor today."

Lady of Silver Moon said nothing.

After a moment, she gave a slight nod and inclined her head, acknowledging his words.

The silver radiance faded.

Having taken the Lycanthrope portfolio and the Moon domain, Lady of Silver Moon vanished.

She had acknowledged that she owed Soren a great favor.

Though they stood on opposite sides, as deities they merely viewed each other with some distaste. They had not reached the point of fighting.
