Death God Ruin

Soran's figure vanished into the sky.

Only after he had completely left did the others finally relax a little. The adventurers who had hesitated earlier came over to check on Chan, though their concern felt rather strange now that the girl had signed a Demon Pact with Soran.

"Ah!"

A low cry of pain rang out. The adventurer closest to Chan suddenly yelped and sprang back as if something had burned him. Soran had fought on this ground, and though the battle was over, the effects of his Body of Blazing Flames lingered. Even the sand and stone had melted, so the ground was still scorching hot. The adventurer apparently had no Fire Resistance; the skin around his ankle had turned bright red where it touched the sand.

Only then did the others approaching Chan realize how hot the ground was. They stopped three meters away.

"What's wrong?"

The middle-aged Monk leading them touched the ground, then quickly pulled his fingers back. He stared at the girl and murmured, "Chan?"

Chan seemed to notice it too.

The ground was gradually cooling, but it was probably still over a hundred degrees Celsius. She bent down and touched the sand and stone that had begun to melt. The searing heat did not affect her at all. Adventurers had strong constitutions, but they were still mortal. Touching a red-hot iron would injure them; they simply recovered quickly. The toughness granted by her Constitution was not enough to make her completely immune to such heat. Whatever had changed must have come from the Demon Pact she had just signed.

"I don't think fire can hurt me anymore."

Chan studied her fair fingers. When she closed her eyes, she seemed to sense a force within her. "And I think there's something else."
