At last, he had an artifact of his own.

For a moment, Soren almost felt like crying. He had been in this world for so long. He had even been a god for a while, yet only today had he acquired an artifact that truly belonged to him. The main reason was that artifacts were simply too rare in this world. Even after the Time of Troubles erupted in full, there still weren't many of them. Icetail had been infused with part of an Archduke of Hell's soul and divinity, giving it the foundation of an artifact. Now Soren needed to infuse it with the power of law.

Every artifact held some power of law within it!

That was why artifacts couldn't be used by just anyone, and why even Legendary Items could have alignment or class requirements.

Soren now had two choices.

The first was to infuse it with a trace of his Soul Power. That would make the artifact his exclusive weapon, and no one else could draw out its power even if they held it. A Sorcerer Family on the Material Plane possessed an artifact like this: a ring whose name was too long to bother mentioning. Only direct descendants of that family's bloodline could use it. Of course, someone with a Feat like [Versatile Hands] could get around that restriction.

The second choice was to infuse it with Soren's own power of law, an extension of the power of his portfolios.

This approach was more common.

Take the Vampire God Child Reinhard's ring. Other vampires could use that Artifact Ring, not just Reinhard. If Soren chose to infuse his own portfolio's power of law, then priests and followers who worshiped him could also use the artifact temporarily, provided they had his permission.
