The Most Powerful Artifact

Ildis.

If Soren had run into the man who would become the most powerful Wizard in legend, then the Goddess of Magic had to be nearby. Ildis had spent a long time with her. In fact, right up until her fall, he had been very close to her. Soren still was not sure how far events had progressed, but from what he could tell, Ildis had probably already met the Goddess of Magic.

Even if he had not, Soren believed that following him would lead him to her.

"Hey."

Ildis looked impatient. Soren had not answered his question, and as Wizards went, Ildis was not particularly good-tempered.

"If you have nothing else to say, leave. Now."

His tone had turned blunt.

In the future, Ildis would have neither a good reputation nor a terrible one. He was the sort who looked out for himself. During the worst of the Time of Troubles, countless powerful people fought and bled for their beliefs, while Ildis hid away somewhere and quietly waited for it to end. For all his power, he did nothing for ordinary people. Among good and justice-minded adventurers, his reputation was poor. Many saw him as a selfish coward who had inherited some of the Goddess of Magic's power after her fall, only to cower in a corner and do nothing with it.

Paladins had sought his help and invited him to join them, but he had never answered.

During the Time of Troubles,

the Material Plane had precious few Spellcasters of note. Apart from one or two unusual figures, only Ildis and the Princess of Arendelle could claim to be the most powerful.

The two had never fought, so there was no way to say which was stronger!

Soren could not leave.
