"The energy flow still isn't enough."

The Fallen Witch appeared beside them. The test of the Large Floating Ring seemed to have succeeded, but Corinna did not look satisfied. She had long been obsessed with the Arcane Empire's knowledge of Alchemy and its Floating Cities. Today's test had succeeded only through a brute-force expenditure of energy, and after her research into Elemental Fission, she could hardly be content with that. Without the Arcane Empire's knowledge of energy cores, the Elemental Pool could barely sustain their research into levitation.

The Fallen Witch glanced at Soren. After a moment's hesitation, she said slowly, "The Elemental Pool doesn't have nearly enough energy."

"Keeping this land afloat already pushes it to its limit."

"If we want to take our research into the Floating City any further, we have to find a way to supply more energy!"

"I..."

The Fallen Witch hesitated. She glanced uneasily at Goria, clearly concerned about her daughter's reaction. But she could not suppress her ambition. "Soren!" she said gravely, her voice unsteady.

"I want to conduct another Elemental Fission experiment!"

A blight upon nature.

A destroyer of the natural world.

That was what the Fallen Witch's earlier research had made her. The Druid Order had put a bounty on her, forcing the leaders of the Northern Witches Council to exile her to White Horse City.

Truthfully, the Fallen Witch had not felt good about it either.

But as a Wizard of the highest caliber, she had much in common with the scientists of Soren's former life. She had always hoped for another chance to pursue her research, yet circumstances had never given her one.

Soren fell silent.

Goria fell silent too.

Their silence left the Fallen Witch looking dejected. For a moment, she seemed at a loss for words.
