Tantras quickly returned to peace after a night of unrest.
Compared to before, however, the city had taken on a different air. The once-lackadaisical guards were gone, many noble estates had been raided, and unfamiliar faces appeared on the streets and city walls. Even the City Guard now carried a palpable air of menace!
With Port Nyanzaru's backing, the half-elf noble Trano soon secured his foothold in Tantras. He was a very clever half-elf. To prove his worth to Port Nyanzaru, he decisively and ruthlessly put more than thirty percent of Tantras's nobles to the sword. But that was only the beginning. After securing his position as City Lord, he promptly declared the remaining nobles guilty as well. Instead of confiscating their estates and exterminating their families, however, he demanded that they pay a sum to atone for their crimes. Faced with the bloody examples already set, the other nobles hurried to buy their way out of disaster. With this move, Trano amassed several million Gold Dalers, more than seventy percent of which were sent to Port Nyanzaru.
One thing was beyond doubt!
Trano was a clever fellow. His actions quickly won support from every level of Port Nyanzaru's society. Its officials even proposed finding a way for him to inherit the former City Lord's title of count.
After the night of unrest subsided.
A temple devoted to Soren appeared in Tantras's Temple District. Meanwhile, in Port Nyanzaru's Central Square, an area behind the existing Grand Temple was set aside for the construction of another temple.
This temple was dedicated to Loviatar, the Goddess of Torment.
As she was Soren's Subordinate Deity, a space for her temple had to be reserved within the grounds of the Great Temple he was building, just as one had to be reserved for every
