I Live, You Die

As captain, Lin Xiao had the authority to decide the order of battle. He could have chosen to keep them out of it and swept through everything himself. He had the confidence to do so.

But he did not. He merely looked at them and said,

"Since we're already here, it wouldn't be right to do nothing. I only need each of you to fight once. Win once, and you'll survive. No matter how many opponents come after that, I'll take them on. You only need to defeat one opponent."

Looking down at them, Lin Xiao pointed behind him and continued,

"The generals are watching you. This is a test for you. Anyone who survives successfully has a promising future ahead."

With a flick of his finger, energy gathered and formed a Lot-drawing Tube that flew before them. "Leave it to luck. The slips have numbers on them. Whoever draws which number goes in that order. It all depends on luck."

The ten of them looked at one another. Yu Dongshan, who stood closest to the tube, stepped forward and drew a slip. It showed number seven.

The others stepped forward one after another and drew all the remaining slips. Their expressions remained calm. No one was dejected at drawing number one, nor was anyone pleased at drawing number nine. Lin Xiao himself had number ten.

Several minutes later, the Insect Race on the opposite side finished preparing as well. The Insect Race Leader at their head, whose strength was equivalent to Greater Divine Power, stared at Lin Xiao with an aggressive gaze. Its tentacle-like hands repeatedly clenched and unclenched in the air as a strange voice, seemingly formed from countless overlapping voices, rang out. "I never expected humanity to possess such a young expert. I can sense that you
