He was home.
Home was still the same home, and the people in it were still the same people—familiar faces. Seeing Luo Zhao return, each of them was delighted and relieved.
After being locked in the heavenly prison for so long, he was filthy.
As he changed after bathing, Feng Guan'er attended him at his side. Luo Zhao asked that question again. "Guan'er, where exactly have you been all this time?"
Feng Guan'er's hands froze as she fastened his belt. Then, without a word, she helped him into his outer robe.
As she turned to leave, Luo Zhao caught her arm and pulled her back, staring into her eyes.
Feng Guan'er did not dare meet his gaze and lowered her head.
The two remained silent like that. In the end, Feng Guan'er broke the silence. "I'm sorry!"
Luo Zhao said, "You are Luo's capable wife. Without you, I would not have gotten out of the heavenly prison so soon. I have not even had time to thank you—why are you apologizing?"
Feng Guan'er slowly spoke the words that were hardest to say. "Divorce me."
She did not want to say such words. Luo Zhao was at the bottom of his life.
She never wanted to say such words. She had wanted to wait until she helped Luo Zhao rise again, then take her own life and be done with it.
She felt she had wronged him and no longer wished to live. But before dying, she wanted to exhaust every last ounce of strength helping him return, as some recompense for the guilt in her heart.
Yet Luo Zhao seemed unable to wait for later. He kept questioning where she had been lately. He had every right to ask, but she did not want to lie to him anymore.
